The problem is, without x86 support, all your software no longer works. Sure, some of it will be easy to cross compile. But most, no. Not to mention gaming.
What we all need is for x86 to become a commodity item, anyone can make an x86 CPU. It's about damn time I say.
BTW, it's my understanding that quite a lot of Intel's x86 patents have expired, but the ones that have are too old to make it possible for anyone to make a modern x86 processor. I believe you would be able to make a 486 or something along those lines, maybe something a bit more modern. And even if you used expired patents, Intel would likely go after you anyway and try to crush you.
