Wow this has jogged the old memory beans. I remember Icrontic back in the day and the move. A few names in here I'm really gutted I lost contact with, MrIcee, Mav, BigToe, DDTUNG, Opp, JCViggen and DJ, legends one and all and I do miss chatting and seeing them around. Apologies if I missed anyone and they notice, but you know how AWFUL my memory is anyway .

I remember my last week here before my break blowing up my 9700Pro and my prommie taking the WR off Opp only for him to have more backups than me. Good old days! Though that wasn't quite what I said at the time - lol.

Funny how lots kinda drifted away at the same time, still hold out a hope that some may return. You may leave but you never forget . I ended up having a quick mooch to see what was going on - a few months later i'm back on the wagon again (or off it depending on your point of view) and plotting phase change when the Mrs isn't looking.

Respect to all those Masters and GODs in Overclocking world

It feels soo nostalgic, I remember almost 5 Years ago I joined this forum out of curiosity because I want to know just what was the definition of 'Extreme Overclocking'.

And at that time, I didn't even understand a SINGLE thing that those legends talked about(LOL ), and just continue looking within this forum to find something useful to learn more about overclocking.

And this is the forum that encouraged me to try dry ice extreme cooling back then in 2005 for my Duron 650Mhz, almost all my friends calls me crazy just to think about it

Great topics Mr. Hipro, it was a good reading, really

Thanks for remind this to me....
BTW....I STILL have ~10 ABIT IC-7 mobos in my lab laying arround....dead....

BUT this thread is about the "missing legents" - the ones that are not here with us anymore - just to remember them and show some respect on their dedication and their work......

The guys we're worshipping with this thread probably don't even know of its existance, I don't see why we can't worship another true legend just because he's here

What happened to cpulloverclock? And there was another guy whose avatar was two jumping cats with lasers coming out of their eyes or something (the name eludes me )

Trust me, there is at least one that is.
When I spoke with him, he was stunned by this thread, nearly speechless.

Said he would post, not sure why he didn't.

And do you remember the person I'm talking about? He's banned now, there were rumours he banned himself or something? My memory's very sketchy, we're going too far back for this early in the morning

Get banned here on XS, switched to TheTechRepository where he did some work together with Tony (OCZ) and ended up writing a couple of articles for AnandTech as well.

As far as I know, he's not actively following the oc/enthousiast scene at this moment. Other priorities. Too bad really, his findings and remarks were always very well founded and argumented; he made some truely excellent articles/posts/threads.

//EDIT: above statement is nothing more than expresseing a couple of facts and my personal opinion of his work. In no way I am judging any of the actions towards him, or done by him, here at XtremeSystems or any other IT-related website, nor am I expressing my opinion about his person or am I judging someone else's positive or negative feelings towards his person.

Wow. This does bring back the memories. I remember coming over to this forum to lurk and find pencil mods for my old mobo's. This was back in my overclocking.com days.

I remember finding out what 3dmark was when futuremark was called madonion. I still have a copy of 3dmark 99 around somewhere.

When I had my old Athlon tbred with my epox mobo and my geforce 4600ti I was second on 3dmark to some guy named kingpin. I never did catch him...

Not enough free time to OC anymore unfortunately. I miss the good old days...

Ah yes, before K|ngp|n, Kinc and Sampsa, these gentlemen were at the top of the overclocking world. It was also a simpler time. There weren't 100 teams competing, no politics involved, no accusations of cheating or tampering, and, foremost, we were actually excited waiting for someone to hit the big 10k in 01 or 03 or 05.

If you don't know who Oppainter is, you don't know what overclocking is all about. Here is only one example of his dominance back in the day: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ight=oppainter

However, though OPP was the most well regarded OCer of his time, there was always someone out there to keep him in check, an overclocker that I'm surprised wasn't mentioned here: Macci

Waiting on those two to see who would take 10K in 01 was the most exciting time I've had at XS. There was also a very good mutual friendship between the two, but yea, when they went at it, they were the only ones on the field

Good times
