I used M Audio Audiophile 2496 (for recording) and Xfi Music (for gaming).
Recently I saw a forum which stated that we can use EAX feature on other soundcard by using his software or program
So, if I have Audiophile 2496 (which don't support EAX) and have other soundcard installed which support EAX, for example like Audigy, the program will linkage the Audiophile to EAX feature on Audigy so basically it would make Audiophile 2496 with EAX feature,
I tried to search again for the forum but can't find it anywhere on the web, I forgot to save the search before.
Anyone can help me, is this really can happened, or maybe know the forum which I'm talking about.
I actually find this really interesting since sometimes editing soundcard don't have EAX feature, so we can buy a cheap soundcard to complete the EAX feature on the other soundcard, so we can get best of both worlds, editing and gaming
if this was possible i would be soooo happy, maybe no more static either? AND NO MORE CREATIVE DRIVERS??!?! wow i wish i knew how to do it

I remember reading, that he create specific program which is currently beta, and the forum have a black background if I'm not mistaken.
I still searching it anywhere but still can't find it, I forgot what's my search words.
I think we still have to use both driver for both soundcard, it just that the software will be like a bridge between those soundcard, so we can put 2 soundcard but only use of them without have to switch them when we want to edit music and gaming.
The Program is called Velbac, I am one of the developers. What the program does is link two cards internally. I used it to have EAX 1,2,3,4 and OPenAL support on my X-Meridian 7.1.
Alot of people use this application because they want the gaming support but just want better sound quality then a stock X-fi can produce. Another use for it is to get better digital output support.
You can use ANY feature from either card.
You could link your X-fi card to your 2496 card, sure. Here it is: VELBAC
This program is currently only XP compatible. We are developing a version for Vista as we speak. The version for Vista is nearly complete. So you understand the application: One card is the DSP card -Creative labs and the other is the output card -your 24/96..etc.
General setup would be
Install both cards, connect the speakers/headphones to the output card
set windows default soundcard to be the Creative labs card. This will send all your gaming data to the Creative card. Run the application and set it up for X-fi. play your games with better sound quality..
If you run into any trouble let me know and I will see if I can help you. Enjoy.
wow cool, but im guessing i still have to run the creative drivers to have the card set to the default... oh and also does it support EAX 5.0? can i get a x-fi card such as the xtremegamer and then get like a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829120103 and use it for the better sound (subjectively better sound, i mean) with EAX 5.0?

You've just make my day .
Btw, if I'm not gaming and just listening music, do I get the 2496 quality or the X-fi? because speaker is connected to x-fi.
And if I got low profile card which support EAX 5.0 like X-fi gaerm and connect it to my M Audio 2496, I'll have a 2496 + EAX 5.0 right?
OK, first off you connect your speaker to the card you want to use for output.
-which is your 24/96. You can set music players etc to use whatever card you want. Yes you can buy a cheap low end X-Music and use that as a DSP and use the 24/96 for output. Yes, you will have the sound quality of the 24/96 and all the features of the X-fi. Now you see why we developed the app. Enjoy.
so! do you know anybody that uses this and plays CSS or some other games?
im probably picking up an extreme music even though it has a bad chip just for the EAX 5.0 capability now.
what card to you guys recommend to pair this with thats ~$100? i allready have ATH-a900 headphones and have been torn apart in which sound card to get as i game and listen to music equally as much, im also going to start editing audio soon so what do you guys recommend?

VELBAC 2.00 released. This new update has alot of new features added. You can actually use Winamp output plugins. This give you the ability to use optimized low latency plugins used fro Winamp.
Scroll to the Bottom of the page. http://pages.globetrotter.net/samaus...il-Velbac.html
No. When I was working with the writer, he is a very talented programmer. I can talk with him and see what he says about possible Linux support if that would help you?
Also, if your just wanitng this for hepadhoens you can always patch the card together using S/Pdif. Not sure if it would work as latency may be a issue with this method. Velbac is very, very low lantecy and there wasnever any noticble lag etc when using it.
nah was just curious for gamin purposes but a lot fo the the games that do work on Linux are generally a lot older and have more overhead for various reasons
So would most prolly eventually just set-up a dedicated Windows gaming machine...
