New Drivers on old X-fi cards?

Whats the deal with the drivers for the older x-fi series cards? I have the x-fi platinum package and the last set of drivers for these was Feb 2008 and the new X-fi's have more recent drivers. Are these compatible?

Also is there any reason why I would want to upgrade to a new X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion other then the fact it would be easier to plug my optical output in the back...

No reason to upgrade unless you want Dolby Digital Live. If you want to upgrade then go for an Auzentech X-fi Forte. You should be able to notice a huge difference in sound quality over a Creative X-Fi.

I have one too and my Drivers are almost a year newer. There are also good 3rd part Drivers.

Hmm. I never knew of third party drivers for the X-fi.

I'll try those out.
