    Killed my M3A79-T D?

I just updated my bios to version 0703 from602 since I wanted to try clocking with it.

The bios updated fine, it did it and told me it's rebooting.
Problem is after that reboot, i get a blank screen and a long beep follwed by a long pause then the beep again.

It's an endless cycle. Beep...........Beep...........Beep...........Beep. ..........Beep
    and so on.

    No post screen nothing.

I reset the CMOS, took out it's battery and tried different combos of ram sticks.

Also removed the ram then I get 1 beep follwed by 2 short beeps.

    Everything was working fine.

Did the bios flash end up killing my mobo?

    Specs are

    940Be
    Asus M3A79-T Deluxe
    4Gb Mushkin Black Ascent 1066
    4870X2
    Gigayte Odin GT 800w
    Samsung F1 1TB.

Hmmm, I just flashed mine to that bios this morning, and everything went fine.
I think the fact that you are getting post beeps is good sign that the bios flash didnt cause it.

Have you tried only one stick of ram?

    I did try one stick.
Tried the other stick, both sticks no sticks.

Also is that a POST beep? As far as I know they shouldn't be repeating constantly.

No they shouldnt be repeating. Usually means some sort of hardware incompatibility, or failure. They are diagnostic codes, so in a sense, they are post beeps.

I have the same board, memory and CPU, and I updated to 703 without problems, if that helps at all.

    Not really

I don't get this at all.

I'm going to try leaving the jumper on the reset for an 1 and see if it helps.

I really hope my mobo isnt borked.

Unplug everything and boot up with just 1 stick of mem. No harddisks, no optical drives no floppy, no videocard, just powercables connected. Only plug in the keyboard.

Now it should give you the beep code for no video, if not i'm afraid the board is brick.

My suggestion is find some cheapo DDR2 stick(667 or 533Mhz) and try booting with it.

I already tried different ram, different graphics card, re seated the graphics, ram and so on.

    Cleared the bios, the lot

Also I only flash the bios from the bios itself, non of this in windows rubbish.

I'm going to murder my roommate at this rate!

Is it award or AMI BIOS? Both have recovery procedures you could try.

    Try this:

Remove the motherboard from the case. Unplug everything, remove the CPU too.
Remove the battery then do a Clear CMOS.
After this, put the CPU, one memory module and the VGA back, connect the power cables and try turning it on.

(I also updated the BIOS 2 weeks ago with EZ Flash and a pendrive, but everything went well )

i had this with a giga board a while back, flashed the bios, and go the looping beep thing, CD would flash twice then beep, over and over, RMA'd it in the end.

not that this will work, probaly not, but whatever happened to the 'hold Ctrl key' option we used to have? that let us flash bios from floppy without the need for I/O instruction?

not on the asus board in particular, but more a general thing?

have you tried CrashFree BIOS2 feature? that includes the BIOS auto-recovery function on the support CD?

Just took out the mobo and CMOS bat and reset bios again, what a pain trying to get that damn thing out of a fully watercooled chassis.

Also it did nothing, damn beep is continuing.

Soundood, that's not really what I wanted to hear

How do I go about using Crashfree and bios recovery on the disk if the pc does nothing but give a black screen and that beep?

    I think it's RMA time

Maybe the last thing you can try:
If I'm correct, the BIOS chip is removable, so if someone could lend you a BIOS chip from a working motherboard, you can try hotflash yours.

Well I've got a new symptom today.

Tried putting in the disk and well nothing happend.

Although the beep is gone and now my 4870X2 has it's first 3 red leds on.

First two means no power and 3rd means too high a temp.

That must be wrong, my load temp on gpu with water cooling was barely in the 40's and both power connectors are in :/

Well it's not my graphics card, I tried another one and still nothing.

I just find it weird that the beep is gone now and that my 4870x2's first 3 leds are on...

That is weird...that happens to me when I put my crucial ballistix 1066 in my system. They wont post. Just sits there with the red leds on my 4870's. I keep pressing the reset button, but it doesnt do any good. Then I put my Kingston back in, and it boots up.
