USEFUL INFORMATIONS:

- Pc Probe + AI Suite: blue screen at the start up, have to be deinstalled.

- Formatting problem (bsod)=> You have to choose "legacy" port instead of "raid" in the bios

-Sputtering can appear in speakers

-The OCZ XTC is incompatible if your graphic card is enclosed in the first slot

-Flash problem under Windows if we want to load old BIOS: In certain cases, the flash staves off boot! To load an old BIOS, it’s advised to flash under DOS with EZ flash, Kodakey for example

-Driver for raid configuration under Windows 2000 not available (impossible start up), possibility to use ICH8R drivers but loss of performances

BIOS INFORMATIONS

- Half coefficient are less powerful than total coefficient

- Bios 0124: inconsistency with some memory stick (pc14400 c7 brand??) (Increase the fsb automatically at 450) + Inconsistency with Xeon 45 nm (need to be checked).

- Bios 0124 and 0306 don’t allow half coefficient

- It seems that the bios 0306 could leads to boot problems, thus deplug PSU wire and replug it. Spotting keyboards problem were detected too.

- Bios 0306 nVidia 9800GX2 compatible.

- Strap 333: Boot problems with the BIOS 0306 in certain cases.

- Strap 400 really bad with all BIOS (except the 0502 for some people), impossible boot or FSB increasing according on cases.

- Bios 0502 inconsistency with the 9800GX2

- Bios 0502: Excellent bios which allows the best FSB.

- Bios 0502 may cause fsb increasing problems (If this problem doesn’t appear strap 400 is good in dual and the 333 in single).

- Several persons can’t boot with strap 400 with 0306 and 610 BIOS. (0610 BIOS is good without this strap). If it runs, this BIOS can be really good !

Pros:

- Ultra-Stable Motherboard (0 whim)
- Very nervous
- Really good for overclocking memory
- Stage supply extremely resistant (No problem with a Penryn at 2 V)

Cons:

- Whims with PS/2 ports under really cold temperatures or really high FSB.
- No ON/OFF button on motherboard.
- Low FSB max with 45 nm in dual channel memories, range from 540 to 550 MHz en dual, in single, hope up to 50 MHz better.

If you have questions do not hesitate to ask !

That's weird, you had the same missing things with other bios ? Mine is out of order for a week or so, so I cannot check. Once I got my new one, I'll take a look. Maybe Florian can help you out in the meantime

Asus support told me that there are no Vmch (NB voltage) and other sensors in this board.
Has anubody measured those voltages so is there overvolting or undervolting?

And does anybody have changelog for bios 0702?

First fast tests of my new WS with a RAM that I have never had a practice (OCZ PC14400 C8) and a CPU that I do not know ( E8500):

- bios 610 (of origin), strap 333 / FSB500 Coef 8 RAM ratio 1:2 (8X500 4Ghz and RAM 1Ghz) 8-8-8-21 or 9-9-9-24 1.9v boot easy with a vNB of 1.25v only and bench the 1M and the 2M

Later 2 min in bios I boot in 560FSB strap 333 either + of 500 strap 266 rather easily with big control levers (all the softs voltages)

In brief, I am going to love this WS ^^

I also go to see totake back in hand the topic and animate it a little

Replaced the bios chip with a bios chip socket.

The Asus board should have had this socket from the get-go since it is a workstation board.
