I just got home from the hospital. It feels awesome to be home with my family and back with all of you as well.

The surgery didn't go exactly as planned (but what ever does). After opening me up for the cystectomy they found the cancer to be advanced outside the bladder wall and involving the bowel and also some cervical bone so it was deemed inoperable. They simply gave me the ileal conduit and closed. My next step is the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in boston and perhaps even the Mayo Clinic.

I also have a new quad build on the drawing board but I want opinions on dfi's bloodiron. At any rate it's good to be home and great to be 'home' here I'll give you guys some hospital pron to drool over in closing.

As for you, you sound very positive and that is extremely huge in the recovery from any sort of illness. The brain can do wonderfull things if you just keep your spirits up. I wish you all the best

Wow, that's rather... impressive.

As for the BloodIron, for a dual-core board, it's pretty good, for a quad-core board, not quite so good. You'd be better off with something like an MSI P35 Neo2-FR/FIR or an Abit IP-35 E for that price if you're after a quad board.

We will be sending the word upstairs for a complete recovery. Tell the truth, you just got the operation so you could impress the ladies with that manly scar.

I would recommend the Abit IP35 Pro for an excellent overclocker at a great price. It is feature rich and clocks easily. It was recommended to me by sierra_bound and 123bob and I really like this board.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and the hardware advise. I just pulled the trigger on a $600 cruncher which includes a q6600 and an open box IP35 Pro. I have quite a few parts on hand which helps keep costs down so by the weekend I should be able to increase my output significantly. I decided to try a xigmatek s1283 hs because I'm intrigued by the pipes incorporated into the base. Maybe I'll regret it but it's easily replaced.

I see you got an Abit, you may need to get some better cooling on the PWM area, that sucker runs hot! It may even be why it was returned. Others have dealt with it. I'm still gathering info and ideas on it. I have an IP35_E and I had to shut it down and turn some things down, for now. That helped some but the sucker is still hotter than hell.

That's odd. I have a BloodIron and I do 3.73GHz (415x9) 24/7 with a lapped Q6600 and D-Tek Fuzion. I put ramsinks on the VRMs and an HR-01 IFX on the NB with 80mm fan, and EnzoTech forged copper SB heatsink. Works great for me so far.

I live in Ellsworth, the gateway to beautiful Acadia National Park. I had a hole little camp on a wonderful lakeside lot and around 4 yrs ago it burned flat so I took 2 yrs and built myself a great family home. You know Movieman, my Sis taught elementary school in Laconia for about 10 yr prior to a relocation back here.

Here's a brief update for anyone interested. I met with the bladder cancer specialist at Dana Farber a few weeks ago to discuss entering clinical trials. He said there is one in particular I'm eligible for. It's completely experimental research and this particular trial is what they call 50/50. Half the participants receive the actual treatment and half a placebo. His only stipulation for my acceptance was that I do 8 weeks of chemo (weekly Cisplatin) and daily radiation. I started the radiation yesterday and today was my first chemo session. Once again the nurses were the highlight of the whole thing. The one administering my chemo was so young and blonde and I'm quite sure she was flirting. Almost made me forget the overwhelming urge to puke. Actually it didn't really make me sick, there are 3 different anti-nausea meds I take now and they're great. Tomorrow I'm shaving my head She said there's a good chance I won't lose all my hair so I'm like, great which parts aren't going to fall out I already hate housework and I'm not into cleaning up hair everyday so off it comes. Now best case scenario, the radiation would shrink the cancer enough to unstick it from my pelvis and bowel enough for the surgeons here to perform the cystectomy as originally planned. Then they'd reevaluate my trial eligibility and probably sign me up for stage 2 or 3 advanced trials. That's a really low likelihood. The other way it goes is that these treatments really do not much of anything except slow growth and spread. This is what the general concensus is with my 3 doctors as the likely outcome, mainly because of my advanced state and the highly aggressive nature of my particular cancer. Then after 8 weeks I would go and join the science project. The hot blonde nurse today asked me why I'd even consider testing like that and suggested that in all likelihood it will not be a very positive experience. I told her that none of what's happened to me in the past 3 months around this has been what many would call positive. I explained to her (she already knew) I've had two unsuccessful surgeries (unneccessary?), been given an Ileostomy that I don't need in light of the fact I still have my bladder, and now I'm getting treatments which will be looked back on as barbaric 20 years from now and which 3 doctors have told me will not help me. I explained to her the trials are perfect. If I personally cannot be helped why not try to advance the science of treatment so that others may be.
