this should be the reviewers driver thats been floating around for a few weeks now.
its charactorized by the fact that it wont work in alot of games, mainly crysis.
it was a quick preview driver, so theres little to no effort put into this release.
the actual release driver is due by mid march in cat 8.3.
WooHoo
Good to see...makes me all warm and fuzzy inside seeing huge ATI benchmarks![]()

i know riska... it wont even recognise that i have the driver on my hard drive...
why its doing it i dont know... i keep on moving the file and trying again but the only files it finds are the old drivers...
i'm going mad....
i've spent a few hours trying to figure out why device manager isnt seeing the file but i am afraid that untill i work it out this problem will be beyond me...
you have to select the driver from the unziped folder (catalyst Catalyst RC3_sample_HybridCF unziped >> pakage folder >> Display drivers folder >> FILE )
First : unzip/install Catalyst RC3_sample_HybridCF to a folder
Second : Device manager >> hd3870X2 >> update driver >> browse computer for drive>> let me pik from a list of device drivers >> Have disk >> Browse >> folder where you unzip Catalyst RC3_sample_HybridCF >> pakage folder >> display drivers folder >> select FILE >> OK >> select as HD3450 >> Done !!
(during the process will get few warnings that the driver its not compatible , bla bla bla , just click NEXT )

Yes i understood from later posts that there is problem with crysis but i was (and still am) more amazed about Bigchromes post that i think did not meet the standards of this forum at all.

"To exist in this vast universe for a speck of time is the great gift of life. Our tiny sliver of time is our gift of life. It is our only life. The universe will go on, indifferent to our brief existence, but while we are here we touch not just part of that vastness, but also the lives around us. Life is the gift each of us has been given. Hi Andre!
I have a issue, downloaded the cat 8.3 release, installed(CFX is enabled in ccc), but somehow i have a lower score with 3870x2 + 3870(vista64) then 3870x2 alone(winxp).
and i just cannot pass 20k under vista(did it witho two 3870 in xp), cpu clocks are the same q6600 @ 4100mhz.
its strange, i know vista is not so good like xp for 3dmark, but i have one gpu more....hmmm
What a bunch of crap. Just installed and ran 3DMark06 and get IDENTICAL scores with XCrossfire enable or disabled with my Skulltrail and 2 HD 3870X2.
It doesn't do a thing.

i mean it cannot really be, ok, in sm3 i have 800 points more.
but...wtf....i have one gpu more(3870 clocked to 850/1260), i think cfx with the 3870x2 + 3870 combo doesnt realy work
Has anyone else tried this with a pair of HD 3870X2?
