    ProStreet for the PC sucks.
Seems fine to me esp in Career mode due to better vehicle handling. Also it seems to be threaded as it keeps both the cores on my slightly o/c E6600 @ 100% usage sustained...

No hiccups or freezes on a 7800GT here....

hmph, 9600GT would kick ass with 96SP and a $192 price tag. Throw in a 192(96*2) bit memory interface and 368mb(96*4) of GDDR4 and call it a day. Hell, change the name to "Super 96" for all the times 96 appears in it's stats. Should score 9696 3DMarks in 3D08 and there would be 9,696 available on launch day and that amount for every day after. Enough said, Nvidia, generate said product and call it the Super 96GT, Gomeler Edition.

well, i picked up an 8600gt for a little over a $100, so it would be amazing if i could get what is essentially a hd3870 for that price

I got my 8600 GT for.....I cant recall.....$140ish or so?? Been a few months....

But you get what you pay for. The 8600 GT is a sad, weak card IMHO.

Its not crap dont get me wrong, but as said....u get what you pay for....

they said that they would launch the top performance cards at first I remember and THEN the midrange cards in summer 2008.They switch again now?Not again!!!
Intel delays Yorkfield.Nvidia delays 9800GTX.Are they completely sane?

When will we see an nvidia card with:

    2GHz Core
    2GB RAM @ 4GHz
    4GHz Shaders
    512 Streaming Processors?

I want to play crysis at 2560x1600 16xAA 16xAF all maxed at 100fps.

You must have No idea what your talking about.

Crysis is what we in the field of game design call "Future-Proof" meaning the engine can last for many years. It supports a Very Super high res texture in a game known-to-date. And The Phys engine is very good too.

I was in Crysis Multiplayer beta very early, and I could say without a doubt that it has gotten alot of Optimization. In the beginning of the beta. GTX/Ultras in DX9 would only get 15FPS max, no matter med-high settings or what res the screen was set to. Now in the Retail we are seeing 50FPS Max'ish in Very High on DX9, and 25-35 FPS On Very High DX10. So before you slam on Crysis saying it has "worst possible attempt at Optimization", You need to stop, Look at how Optimization it is now, Compared to before, And how useful it can be in 1-2 years game engine wise.

also, NFS:PS has a new system EA hasn't gotten much time in, aka, The Damage system, Other then that, being the only part thats not really optimized. The rest is really good, I get 70-90 FPS on all max settings. Thats better then crysis, but NFS:PS isn't DX10.

    Anyways, Back on topic.

    I can't wait for the G9800GTX ^_^

looks like the 8800GT chips (G92) will be cut from original 128sp (112sp in 8800GT ) to 96 witch will put us with a card almost like 8800GTS (g80) to mainstream.
Interesting thing to see when mainstream receives that kind of computational power , or should i write "low - end " ? 0_o

hmm first post in this topic says 96 ;] , it is a reasonable figure man : ] , well with G92 chip they can make from 128 to 112 to 96 to 64 (less then 64 would not be reasonable )
Do you really think that they would make a completely new chip and not take what they have and brand them as new ;] ? It is very likely that this is a redesign of the G92 possibly with Dx10.1 implementation. But as always time will tell . 64SP is not that much imho , i would better see some 96+ SP in mainstream .

so why do textures look like crap ?

i got them on max but its all blurry stuff.

Oblivion with texture addon looks MUCH better in terms of texture, no question.

I agree that some of the mountain and rock textures are a bit blurry, but what about road-textures, gravel, your suit, weapon-models, and a lot of the other enviroment-textures... Crysis' textures are by no means blurry, get off it...
Also, what he means is that Crysis in actuality supports VERY high res textures, they're simply not unlocked in the current version...

Looks great to me, There are some glitches in current drivers still. and what card are you pushing?

Anyways, If we're going to discuss crysis, we could open a different thread.

These is the 9600GT thread after all.

There were some problems with the mountain textures which were running normal only on a 64bit system first,I saw this fixed in the latest Nvidia driver, dunno about ATi.
YOu can fix this manualy by setting a new view xy distance, check crysis guide from crysis forums.

Still the 9600GT won't break the hearts of those who have the 8800 series cards.

They better be at the $150 price tag since the prices of the 8800GT, HD3870 are falling as well.

The 3870 is a great deal... but the 8800GT is still expensive, good thing I got mine free in a step-up from my GTS...

expensive? heck i can find more than 3 different cards for under 250 CAD but 3870's are still 240 CAD for those prices the 8800gt is a way better deal in my books

most of this "ground" stuff only gets nice if i activate parallax(normally not available for my card, must use console)

But when i do it, fps breakes down from around 25 to like ~8

So yeah, i can't have nice textures in crysis, in other games no problem even WITH parallax.

Maybe it gets better with 3870x2 but i really doubt it.

sure.. crysis looks good on a very expensive top end system with all options turned up...

but cod4 proofs that you dont need to limit a game to the very high end computers to make a good game.

on the other side, its always good to have games like crysis, because its finally something that actually puts all that power we have to use and it gives a reason to upgrade...

the biggest problem i have with crysis is that i run out of ammo because i cant stop shooting the trees

    as for the 9600GT...

i just hope it will perform good, not like 8600 and 2600 cards which are crap if it comes to performance...

having a decent midrange card from the start is always good... it sucked with 8x00 from nvidia that they waited like a year to release a good midrange product (8800GT. because 8600 ones dont even qualify as midrange)

They dont qualify as midrange because the 8600GT inherits the same PCB used for the 6600GT and 7600GT that also means it inherits the 6600GTs 128bit bus... which may have worked fine for 2004s midrange monster, but not today....

That's a HUGE drop in FPS,normally if you activate parralax you get ~1-2 drop in FPS....
Even on my old ATi X1950PRO i wouldn't get more than a 2FPS drop....

there are 3 versions of parallax.

first is without any and you get it, when you set shaders to "middle" in options.

second is like this screenshot on the right side and is useless, as it looks in fact nearly just like without any.

third is like the left pic, but cannot be used with shaders on "middle", it must be on high.

That's why i have so huge performance drop, as normaly i use middle shaders, but with real parallax i have to use high.
