    Well according to http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/...g/vidcard/34/8

"The ATI BIOS collection has a new feature which serves you a bootable floppy image or bootable iso CD image with the BIOS you want on it. Click on "Advanced" when in the BIOS list."

But I'll be damned if I can find what they're referring to. Also, the "ATI BIOS Collection here" link on that page is no good. It should be pointing to bios.techowerup.com/vgabios

    Unhappy

Hey guys, I just got my card and I'm having a big problem. My card only shows 509/510MHz in ATITool. I know that's the 2D settings, but isn't ATITool supposed to put it in 3D mode. What's worse is I can't change anything. If I move the slider, once I hit set it goes back to default. Not even 1MHz, up or down!

    What do you guys think?

Thank you, I would not have thought to try it based on the name

By the way, is it normal for the card to make weird noises sometimes? Sometimes it sounds like a digital snake hissing. Other times it sounds like "THWIP TWHIP THWIP TWHIP!!" (imagine spiderman shooting his web like 360 times a second).

    I need a Sapphire 2900XT 1GB BIOS. I've seen 2900XT 1GB's from Sapphire before, so I know they exist.

Do you know how to overcome the error message I get from Winflash? I tried the BIOS from ATI & HIS but I go the mismatch error.

No I don't but flashing from Windows is risky business anyway I'd do it from DOS.

Too much steps. I'm a newbie and doing it any other way is really complicated.

Don't flash it via Windows. It's not hard to do it via BIOS if you follow my guide and use a thumb drive.

Anyway, good news. Got my new 2900 Pro. Not DOA, thank god. 6p+8p hooked up, works great. Flashed to XT BIOS, tada. Works, yay!

Oh, and this is also a 3 pipe HS/F.

Dude you're savvy enough to know what a video BIOS is you can handle the DOS flash no problem, esp w Nicks guide.

I would do it via a cd but this stupid motherboard only has 1 IDE cable, and it's being used up by my HDD. When I try connecting a cd burner to it, the system doesn't boot. I'm going to FRY's tomorrow to buy a new HDD and perhaps a thumb drive. What size should I get? I was suppose to ship this card out to a friend since I was doing him a favor. Now he'll have to wait even longer.

Listen. Take a ride over to Staples or Office Max, hell, even WalMart tomorrow. If you can't drive yet, ask a parent to this weekend. 256MB, 512MB thumb drives will run you $10-$20. Wait till the Sunday ads if necessary. You can sometimes find a 1GB for like $12 AR at Staples or Circuit City.

I think RaBit does it, you can find it at www.mvktech.net. Just flash with XT if you want higher clocks. 743/1650 iirc.

Ya listen to NickS. If you're going to do this at all do it the right way with a thumb drive. They shouldn't even make Windows-based flash utils, IMO.
