For the high end nvidia could stick with their current design and simply go 90nm and crank it up to 600+, however rumours of r580 being close to production and having 3 x the shading performance of the r520 are also being said.

Who knows ! Sounds like fun ahead though.

Thanks for the 2001 scores guys, looks like 50k will go down soon.

Nick from Futuremakr has been dropping hints about 06 recently, it is going to be a lot different it seems in what it does. I think they will stop 2001 then. 50k will be a nice end for it.

    Regards

    Andy
OFFTopic: where were the 06 hints? I haven't seen any....you have any links immediately available, it'd be great if you PMd them to me, thanks.

On topic: 50k could very well be taken down without it as well....in fact, I bet one reason why it HASN'T is because everyone wants to keep it up. No doubt this card could easily take it down, though.

About the 03 scores (and 05), am I the only one to notice the horribly low Pixel Shader score?

No, several reviews mentioned that already.

I still have mixed feelings on the X1800XT. The benchmark scores are very nice to say the least, however, with the card not available for real people I do not feel the excitement in there (because I cannot reproduce the benches without having the actual card itself - and for a significant time ahead).

OH, LOL....I haven't read a word any place has to say, I consider this a picture book review (IQ and graphs ). I'm pretty confident that there will be better drivers in the future that will pull away from the 7800GTX like it should....maybe we'll see improvement by the time we can actually get the card

I'm not really impressed. The x1800xt doesn't blow nvidia away, it's just a little bit better.

When is nvidia coming with their new cards ? I'm exspecting a close battle

woa, the R520 is finally released and already we're hearing that R580 is 3x better? WHERE ARE MY SOCKS!?!?

    Regardless; if someone could clarify this for me it would be much appreciated;
a die shrink to 90nm would let nVidia clock their 7800 chips substantially higher? someone said 600+mhz which seems like a reach, I know their 110nm chips are hitting 500mhz stock without TOO much trouble, but 600mhz default?

    They're at B3D...12176 in 05, IIRC. 03 nor 01 were run.

    FX-57 @ 3.59GHz, Redline @ 239 2-2-2 3.42V

(that's all from memory, don't quote me....lemme dig up the link)

    http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=843&pageID=1802

Wrong B3D that I was thinking about, but it's the place with the info regardless. They actually scored 12164, not 12176 like I incorrectly remembered.

That is the highest so far. But its only a start. We should be seeing 950 - 1GHz engine clocks quite soon (at -85C, with LN2 maybe 50MHz more) - also some 50-100MHz improvement on mem clock should be possible.

We had PSU limitation over at Ibiza so the scores we got there are far from optimal.

I'll see if I can get some nice all aircooled numbers today.

    awesome.

That should bring some solid Air-cooled #'s, given the card can support it w/o problems.

Macci....Winclk V3.60. Is that a toy from ATI? Give us some more info on the soft-voltmod too. Is it true? and what do you have to do to use it.
