In my area its 8 cents a kilowatt, relatively cheap. Heres a big if, but IF you get a 40% savings on the card saying the card is 240W stock and some how manage to run it 24/7, 365 days a year that extra 96W of power you'd be using comes up to $67 a year. Unless its going to be sucking that much power doing folding for a full year straight no power interruptions and no down time you will not come even close to a card price if lucky maybe 1/3rd of the price in a years time. As well doubt it really hits that mark in power usage, the 8800GTX doesn't even hit its TDP.

Well let's say you buy a high end card = £400. So every month I spend in it £20. So in a year will be £240, after 1 year the price will drop to £240 and you just buy another card to make crossfire.
