    @ bclk di 183mhz and ram at 10x therefore 1830mhz i can set timings @ 7 8 7 20 1t, 7 8 7 24 1t and 6 8 6 24 1t

    the problem is that i can't see difference in bandwith between 7 8 7 24 1t and 6 8 6 24 1t

same read, same latency with everest

why ? is it possible that memory controller limited my ram?
are you manually setting it to 1t?i know whith my UD7 if i left it auto sometime when i changed cas(lowered)at certain speeds it would set 2t sometimes and i took me a while til i noticed it.
same thing with tRFC,if on auto at certain OC's it would set 74 but when i went higher i noticed it set 114 with my clarkdale.even though in the bios it said 74 on auto cpuz showed 114 .

Got a third 870 to play around with, L923 something. I'm at work currently, but before I left it was 25 passes into linX at 20x200 1.25625v vCore and 1.25v VTT, LLC on of course. I can probably go lower, currently I'm just trying to get a starting point. Lowest i've been is 1.2375v with 5 passes of LinX.

Screens later, this is so much better than my previous 860/870s, they all needed 1.37v for 4ghz, lol. IIRC, the 860 was L947, and the 870s were L018 and L021, very new batches.

Triple post, but don't mind the temps - it's most likely another seriously convex IHS like my 860, and my megahalems has scratches on the bottom for whatever reason.

Sorry, but I donīt understand why You raise CPU PLL to 1,85V and PCH to 1,2V. This 2 Voltages should stay at default and from what I learned, that they donīt help. At least with BCLK 200 not.
Maybe I am wrong with this. Somebody else can please say something?

It's from my old OC for my 860. It's not necessary, but it worked and I didn't feel like changing it. This isn't the lowest it can go, I need to work on that.

Final OC. This chip is HOT! Literally... 4200mhz at 1.3v is stable for 10 minutes smallFFT but I cannot control the temps with my megahalems. Need water to take full advantage of this chip.

The batch of my processor i7 870 is L025A902.
    Pack date: 08/20/2010.

It is a good processor for overclocking? I want 4.6Ghz stable on linx.

    Thanks.

    Thanks Devil, I'm lucky

Here's some more! Updated after my Hyper MGH-E fiasco (Have to run 8-8-8 now vs 7-7-7)

And a quick suicide run (Boot at these frequencies, no tweaks in windows)

I can't get past 4650mhz without 1.4+ Vtt, Even at these speeds I get 124 bsods when I try to do anything multi threaded. This CPU is very good but it doesn't have a very strong Uncore

Devil, if you want a CPU like this I can look into it and arrange something.

If I had some money to purchase another of the same batch (There's a few at my local store), I would, lol. Put it under water or something, I think 5ghz Spi should be possible with 1.5v ish vcore. Or maybe not, maybe there's a wall at 4.7ghz. Who knows...

Mainly I just don't want to put unnecessarily high voltages through this chip, I rather like it too much to kill it

    Edit:

Got brave enough to try 1.45v Vcore (1.3v Vtt) through Eleet for a few minutes. My first Sub 9 SPi! hehe

now i don't know if that vcore is my lower, however I think that is not bad start for 4ghz

    bclk 191mhz
    qpi 32x
    dram timing 8 8 8 24 1t ( but i think that is possible to do better, like 7 9 7 or 7 10 7)
    pci-e 100

    vcore 1.328full max, 1.296 idle
    vtt 1.30v

I have megahalems too, with 2x Magmas in a V1200 with horrible ventilation. I mid 80s on my 870 at 1.25v, and I hit the high 80s on my 860 at 1.36875v. Remount and make sure you have good contact, you still have some headroom.

Higher PCIe helps with higher Bclk. 104 seems to be the magic value for EVGA boards.

You're fine on the temps, but you have EIST/Cstates/Speedstep enable I think.

Turn EIST off, unless you have a reason to have it on.

Damn u Kain and ur chip

Been playing about with mine again lately, just for a bit of fun.

Probably will just go back to 4GHz, don't need this extra performance really... and hyperthreading, makes things too hot... just 4GHz needs about 1.376v, which sizzles things. I've found windows more snappy without hyperthreading anyway
