Wanna really set your your CPU on fire?

So for grins, I was doing some testing this morning...

I had Orthos running about 5 minutes in... then I decided to start up IntelBurnTest using the MAX (1) setting at the same time. I also had real temp running as well. I can run either one of these alone and never get over 75 degrees. Well as soon as I fired up IntelBurnTest with Orthos, my CPU temps immediately shot over 100 degrees and my box shut off! Ha!

Give it a shot! I never thought I could heat up a CPU that bad.

Let me know - tell me what happens.

Maybe it's time for some water cooling.

Why on earth would anyone try this, beats me...total waste of time, could damage something and totally pointless too... something for pretty bored people with enough cash to spend...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Haha. Well, first of all, I didn't even know it was POSSIBLE for this to happen. How could running BOTH strees the CPU and harder than running IntelBurnTest?

What exactly is it about both of them togetherthat can cause this?

exactly... 99% of windows everyday apps won't even stress load a cpu like orthos/prime95 would in the first place

How could the intel stress test make the CPU do more work while Orthos is already giving it a max load?

Doesn't do anything for me. Temps hit 80C max load, then... Linpack shut down with an access violation error (c00005) and... that was it.
