We just confirm that GeForce 9600 GT use P545 PCB design (8800GT use P393 PCB design), and the memory will be 256bit 512MB, still don’t know support DX10.1 or not .
    Only 64 SP?

And what the hell is a 8800GS?

no, the 8800gs specs are lower than the original 9600gt specs... looks like this gt will be way lower than even a 3850, they better price it accordingly. and why the heck does the higher end card have less memory and a narrower bus?

Give me an 8800GT for under 200 and I will bite. I hope that the new high range isn't outrageously priced so that it will bring down the Gt's price. But, with Nvidia's previous prices ie. 8800 series before the GT, i don't think that will be the case. Then again ATI is putting out some good products which is finally putting pressure on Nvidia, will be interesting come February.

That largely depends on the capabilities of the SPs. 3870 only have 64SP aswell. Even just 96 of the same type of SPs would be quite nice.

I'm starting to really dislike nvidia. There's a ton of games out right now that even the most extravagant setups can't play maxed. They keep dragging out deadlines and new cards. We need a new, more powerful card, NOW!

D9x could be a nice leap in performance, but most likely not. It'll prolly be just a small improvement...

this is what i think the 9600gt should be:
-128 shadders (the fancy new ones)
    -1500mhz shadder clock
    -550mhz core
    -512MB GDDR3
    -256bit
    -2000mhz mem (effective)
    -65NM
    -$100-$150 price
    -Tri SLI ready
    -single slot cooler

that would be one heck of a card for the price!!! but the only thing we can do now is wait for the new cards to come out.

Hmmm. If so, then it got me to think, what if Crysis isn't just a hardware hog, it's badly optimized?

I guess we will see if this delayed patch makes that statement true. I so I may grab another 8800gt.

Hmm... I think I'll wait for a 9800GT/S/X. If the 9600GT performs around 8800GT levels, then I can't wait to see the high end offerings.

    nVIDIA is the party.
I want to see the 9800GTX.
45nm (get processors and GPU to the same size), 192 shaders, 1GB 2GHz+ GDDR5, 512-bit.

    Take that, Crysis.

    ^ +1

Anything less and I'm not moving to it

But I understand if they chhose to go with this card first.
It will hurt DAAMIT most if they go for this market first and so strongly.

Crysis is probably the result of one the poorest attempt at optimization ever seen in a retail game. Only the Need For Speed series is THE worst possible attempt at optimization. Time to start slowing down hardware releases and time for these codies to start doing their jobs.

Crysis runs super well considering what the graphics card is doing...

Woot! The first Nvidia midrange card that does not inherit the 6600GT PCB and it respective 128bit bus! (unlike the 8600 and 7600)

yet theres begining to be a few games out there, I can hardly play...
its definatly time for a new card.
c'mon now. What game out there can you "hardly play" with an 8800TGTX? You may not be able to play them at insane resolutions with AA and AF but surely you can still play them at more modest settings.
