34 psu review at hexus - enermax's and bluestorms explode!

well, not all of then exploded but several high end enermaxs shut down at 400 to 450 watts. bluestorm failed also. suprised to find out my powerstream manufactured by tagan. thought it was toppower or something that sounded like that. akasa(who?) and thermaltake(!!) did very well. long article. seems like good testing methodology. a must read, especially if your using enermax. fsp/aopen now selling 700watt psu with 60a on the 12v rails. rated very good.

No offence but why does this belong in AMD and not general hardware or News?

Enermax are famous for that, they totally "blow", i had a 350W Enermax which were getting praised some year ago, it got SO hot, that it finally blew. I dont understand, that they still are on the market, they are really a dangerous partner, someone should "ban" them, before they actually kill someone.

i have a qtec (550w dual fan really a 350 tho dammed pr people)for 2 years and it is working fine powering my mxp at 2850mhz my scsi array (2x u320 seagates).

I may have been lucky tho as i know people that have lost full systems to them.
depends on if the guy at factory was having a good day in the end i guess.

Yeah. I was very dissappointed to see that fortron had moved to peak ratings. (My ax-450 is actually a 400watt and I call it such.) But it's still a strong, stable PSU. I don't have the equipment to test if it can outperform specs like the old FSP's could, but I suspect it's internally almost identical to the Blue storm, so it probably puts out in the 450watt region sustained anyway.

Doesn't suprise me, I am confused by they didn't put PCP&C 510-SLi in there to pwn the rest of them?

That Silverstone ST65F PSU is really a good buy. Only 200AUD here, and im sure cheaper in USA.

I think whole review is amazing and provides good info about all the models along with certification game makers play sometimes. Silverstone & OCZ600W are good ones for dual 12V. Single, well OCZ does it with their OC friendly nature...

QTec's Triple Fan 650W is clearly a joke power supply. From the triplet of cooling fans that battle against each other to cool very little, to the supposed ratings that don't even add up to 650W, finishing with the massive failure for the PSU to get anywhere near its rated output.

Good review. Amazing how many power supplies don't even get anywhere near their max rating
