For a copper block of 2"x2"x0,75", Metals Online charge 14 USD. Will look if I find something cheaper on Ebay. Well, even at same price, Ebay is easier to pay and send to a different address.
You may want to go thicker as well. Sinking a 3/8 loader into a 6/8 block leaves very little margin and you get a loader with hot spots.

Yeah, you are right and doing the holes theres also little margin jaja. 1" thickness (ceteris paribus) raise to 18 USD. Not bad. Will quote something a bit larger since my evap has 54mm base.

Sent you a pm Adam. Searched on Ebay and found this offer (very attractive) 2x2x7.125" for 70 USD. Almost 4kG of copper.
The problem with that is going to be cutting it. I have a large horizontal bandsaw but still, not so easy.
I'm looking at some 120v 200w cartridges.
Is 400w capacity good by you?
I want to cut down some 2" copper round, mill an edge for an IHS size center square. I'll add a point or two for temp probes.
For mounting I plan to add the block into a simple mount or a more elaborate delrin option.

Ok some materials are now ordered. I figured I'd buy enough to make a few and if anyone else wants a load tester they can nab one.

Maybe I'll test out some CPU pots on this. Hopefully this doesn't seem excessive as I hope to keep them under $80 all included.

With Variac it will be usable for 0-400w. If you own a kill-a-watt it'll be easier to monitor load live. I'll do my very best to make a nice guide with fully supported uploaded pictures.

On ebay search "electrical" or "copper buss bars". They will probably have some holes so be sure you can work around them for your material pieces. Copper is pretty high now and I seen a lot of buyers on ebay buying scraps back at good prices.

Thermostats is what I was trying to say. With some 1000 grit paper you can polish up those back plate nicely.

Actually that was just cell phone!
So I purchased 50C break-out thermostats. I figured this is a good hold temp for us as the block should rarely get that hot, and it'll prevent you from messing up with a bad contact.
But it probably isn't warm enough for testing waterblocks. I'll order some 140C thermostats as an option for future tester blocks.

So here is the first. Boring out the delrin went well, altho I didn't have a good bottom surface finish in some points, the wall finish is excellent.
Copper finish came out well with a 4 flute end mill at high rpm.
Boring the heater holes is tough though. Drill bits don't produce round holes, more oblong triangular. So end mill approaching that depth was hectic.
Then I goofed a little, I had knocked a lock down on the material loose and ended up being non perpendicular. So the pass thru notch for the wires is a tidbit less than beautiful.
Also those pesky thermostats look nice, but on a round surface would have required making a large flat or bottom mounting and worrying about condensation. So no thermostat on these.
I put in a 2.5mm hole below the core center for a thermocouple, mounted up the bottom mounting plate to the delrin and added a wire hook and some heatshrink.
Decent, though I was in a rush and I bet I can do better. Tomorrow I'll try and lap it a bit or shine it up just to look nicer.

You have exceeded my expectations! So nice and looks easy to mount.
It's very heavy duty in your hand and the mount from Runmc doesnt flex. So should be super easy to use.
I only got this one done though. I'll get home in another week to do another or two if others still want them.
