Yep, rev 304 vcore mod makes no difference since all options are available already with newer bios.

Do not use Everest UE 2.8 and probably other versions. When you open the program it drops your vcore to default and you can set it back higher only by putting bios jumper.

    Very strange

Strange. I can change all settings when I use my 965XE cpu, but when I put my conroe E6600 (A1 stepping) in the rev 304 board I can't change Vcore at all. Tried bios 0618, 0908, 1073. Same result

Could be that B0 stepping CPUs unlock by default while A1 CPUs require the mod. Did you complete Image 3 from the first page and flash to BIOS 0908? It takes just seconds...

I opened the bios already and set the vid to 1.65V with other settings on mem, mch and nb. Now it wont even passed Intel logo screen and can't reset it to default.

Well, time for another bad axe

No. See the jumper in Image 3? Turn off power to the MB and move that jumper to the bottom 2 pins. Then restart. Go into BIOS (everything temporarily at default) and fix the problem (ie. change settings). Save and exit. Turn off power again and move jumps back to top two pins. Start back up. Should fix your problem. If not then remove the MB battery for ~30 seconds. Insert and power back up. It's brought D975XBX back to life more than once...

Thanks FCG, did the mod (image 3) on the 304 board, and I can now set Vcore for my conroe rev A1 in 0908 bios. It's the same 0.125V steps as with the Preslers, is that how it's supposed to be?

Tried 1.400V in stead of default and temp in bios only rose from -31 to -27, so that's really promising. Now I'll see if I can get it to boot with the 1333 mhz fsb strap.

I got a very strange problem. No matter how I set the jumper the board doesn't boot anymore it just switches to BIOS (Maintenance Screen ?!) and so I can't boot anymore, always BIOS Maintenance mode...
    Any suggestions?

I'm still caught in the BIOS (Maintenance Mode) lol.
    Changing the jumper solves nothing

My badaxe acted up Thursday night after setting my mem too high {trying for 500mhz}. Set Maintenance Mode jumper, and then it would POST but before I could make a change my screen would go black. Pulled the battery for a few seconds, reinserted and attempted to post, keep hanging at 5A followed by a black screen.

I got pissed pulled the battery pulled all connections from the PSU to the mobo and swore I'd box it back up and return the damn thing this weekend {CPU still installed}. Well Friday evening I decided to give it one more shot, reinstalled battery and PSU connections, it POSTED let me change settings. Powered off and moved the Maintenance Mode back to normal. And shes worked fine ever since.
Last night tried for 500Mhz again, same thing happened after applying settings. This time I tried removing the battery and PSU for only 10mins...and it worked like a charm.

    I have a "supposed" rev 304 with BIOS BX97510J.86A.0305.1114.1432

It wont boot with the couple of Conroe I tried in it (1.86 and XE) but is fine with a 6xx, any ideas?

    Thanks

The bold number above is your BIOS version. At least 0618 is required for Conroe support. I recommend 0908. THIS IS ALL CLEARLY STATED IN THE FIRST POST OF THIS THREAD. Please people, READ.
