    Could someone be so kind as to let me in on the secret as how and what to use to change the multi {only lower I know}

Even with the OC Debug shorted I get no multi adjust option in BIOS.
CPUID doesn't actually change the multi

    E6700 ES/BadAxe rev 304

Hi, I've got a question concerning the "OC Debug"-Mod. Could someone be so kind and measure the voltage on the two contacts for me? One should be Ground and I'd need the voltage on the other contact. Of course I'd need someone to do it who didn't already connect the two points.
I'd guess it's ~5V, but I'd like to have a little assurance for my assumption.

Thx in advance! For anyone who wants to know why I need that info: I've got a "Black Creek" board (D955XBK) lying around here and it doesn't have the "OC Debug" Jumper, but I bet it's got the same function, just with a different looking jumper. Already found the suspicious contacts (named "MFG JMP") which could be what I'd like them to be.

    Thx in advance!

Quick question abou the badaxe 304 that I haven't been able to find. I'm running a 533 FSB celeron at the moment, but have ddr2 800. The spd reports 4-4-4-12, but it will only run at 533 4-3-3-8. The memory is gskill F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ. Is it my memory, or is it not possible to run memory at 800mhz unless the FSB of the processor itself is 800 mhz (or I'm overclocking?). It will not boot if I set the correct timings manually and set it to 800 mhz.

    Question

    1. Can someone recommend a conductive ink pen for the OC Debug mod?

    2. Also, how hard would it be to de-solder unused ports such as the parallel port, serial port, PS/2 ports & the audio ports? Basically, if I remove these, will the board still work? (I usually disable them in the BIOS, but I want to clean up the board and make more room for heatsinks, etc.

    3. Oh, and one more thing...when i get my rev 304 in the mail to replace my 302, I am thinking of pulling off the north and south bridge heatsinks, cleaning them and chips and then putting ceramique and re-applying the heatsinks. Should I consider the flower style Zalman northbridge heatsink as a replacement? Or do you think the stock Intel one is good?

    4. Heck...one last question since you guys are so freaking Xtreme! LOL! Anyone thought of replacing all the caps with 100% solid Japanese aluminum caps like on the DFI Venus or the newer Gigabyte P965 boards? Now that would kick some ass!

Any conductive pen or conductive silver lacquer will do. Even a small blobb of solder to connect the two contacts would be enough. As long as you only connect the two points that need to be connected and don't short anything else, every conductive connection should be enough to enable the extra BIOS options. Only a very small current is flowing through these contacts, so the connection doesn't need to be the most perfect connection ever.

I'd say that it'll be quite hard, as you'll need some pretty high heat to get the big ports of the board. But with some practive and good solder/desolder experience you should be able to do it. Although I wouldn't recommend it! Just think about the value of the board after doing it. If you're ever going to sell the board, you'll only get a small part of what it would be worth with all the ports in place. So, think twice before doing this mod.

Perhaps you can lap the stock heatsinks, but applying some good thermal paste should be enough, as the heatsinks themself are big enough and well made. I wouldn't recommend the zalman heatsink as I don't think that it'd give you much better temps. As the chipsets put out a lot of heat nowadays, cooling the chipsets with all aluminium sinks won't gain much. If you really want to improve cooling, then get something with at least a copper base and a fan. Ah, and BTW, why don't you keep your revision 302 board. I mean someone willing to desolder certain ports should be able to solder in some smd resistors.

Already done by VictorWang, if I'm not mistaking. Just PM him to ask if it helped getting higher OCs. I'd guess that he gained some MHz doing it.

    hey guys,

got a 975xbx 304 modded for the oc submenu with a pentium d 805 as a holdover... now the problem is that i cant seem to change vcore, either through BIOS or 3rd party apps... it seems stuck in the same place regardless of setting, i.e default vcore via the cpu

i've change the voltage upwards 1.53v but get no increase in loadtemp, and systool and speedfan claim the voltage to be 1.35 something....

the only app that reacts to any tweaking is IDCC, which i guess reads the info directly off the BIOS setting, and thus isnt viable... what to do? really need help about this since i really cant feel Xtreme enuff with the 805 running 3.6 ghz on stock voltage... I WANT MORE!!!

Don't use this programs, if you want use an overvolt vcore: Everest-systool-speedfan-sandra(??)...if you use this programs, the vcore slide on default, and later, you must turn off the power for 5-10minutes for set again another vcore(not default)!

    use only IDCC or IDU!

Can someone help me please. Since 0908 is the best bios, i flashed it to that but IDCC isnt working anymore, Has anyone got the version that works with 0908 bios please, let me know by pm or here.

Second, I've heard that the bios can be modded in order to unlock the extra OC options, Anyone know how to do that.

    Thanks in advance

Image 3. Vcore "Modification" - unlocked BIOS for ALL chips (optional)

Notice the 3-pin header called "BIOS CONFIG" used for flashing and maintenance mode. Now...notice the empty silk-screen locations (OC DEBUG) above that in the picture? Intel has purposefully not shown the through-holes in their pictures as they have been blacked out. (I have shown them with the yellow circles.)

Mod: Short together the holes shown. Use either conductive ink or solder. If you wish, install a header and use an extra shorting bar from your included accessories to make this mod changable!

so i have to put conductive ink which i dont know where to get , on the yellow area in order to overclock?? also how do u "solder"??

If you're asking questions like that, don't even think of trying to solder a multi-layer PCB - you can damage it pretty fast if you leave the iron on it too long.

    **fixed my problem

What i learned is that nothing will boot unless you format the drive. Repairs, adding the install into a data CD, leaving the file system intact, etc., results in drive error messages.

Well i've got a big big problem.

My board has the IDT chip on it, it is different from the old ICS chip.

How i understand it is the PLL is different. So, for me, 1333 strap doesn't work, > 30% OC in the bios doesn't work, and clockgen doesn't work.

So my E6700 is stuck at 30% OC or 3.46 Ghz.

What bios are you using? 1333 strap doesnt work with 1334 bios.

1304 BIOS, the reason is because of the IDT chip

If you have a newer Badaxe you'll probably have the IDT chip, in which case you need to use Systool to clockgen

BTW, Anyone who doesn't want to solder the board for the OC DEBUG mod (and soldering a MB is a big deal even to someone with experience in it) and doesn't want to fork out $20 for a conductive ink pen they'll use once should try using simple sellotape with a small piece of wire stuck on it. Works fine for me.
