    BIOS 1.06 released today @ Aopen's site.

I just picked up one of these boards this week and it has BIOS 1.03. Since you don't seem to be able to revert back to an older BIOS I'm wary about which version to load. I want Speedstep support and later in the year I will add a Merom. What's the latest version that supports Speedstep? Has anyone tried 1.04?

With 1.03 I can change the multiplier using CrystalCPUID but the voltage remains stuck at the BIOS value.

I hope you aren't all drooling over Conroe and can find time for old man Yonah

Sorry, I only noticed that the file was missing after I posted this message. It’ll turn up soon I guess, maybe someone could email them about this!
I accessed a couple of their FTP sites directly with an ftp client and it’s not there.

    Try this: ica16.zip

Some guys from HWL have it running: post #1490

Got it running, looks promising, disable EIST under:

Advanced BIOS Fewatures -> CPU Feature -> C1E Function [Disable]

I used Winflash, no probs at all...

The program is called Winflash and is bundled with the zip already

Turning off speedstep gives you a higher overclock? I may have to try flashing to this, still using original retail 1.02.

    'HTPC' AMD A8-3820 @ 3.5GHz | Biostar TA75A+ | 4GB DDR3 | Momentus XT 500GB | Radeon 7950 3GB
    'Twitch' AMD 720BE @ 3.5GHz | Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P | 4GB DDR3 | Avermedia Game Broadcaster

Just updated to the bios posted above using winflash. Installed and verified okay but on reboot my system won't get past the Aopen boot logo! Tried re-setting and swapping CPU's but still no go

    Suggestions anyone?

Damn, maybe bootblock damaged ? In that case only reflash on another board will work
Have you tried booting up in standard configuration (with jumpers for >200FSB in place) ?

By the way : bios 1.06 does nothing for my FSB wall : still 226FSB, speedstep or not But it does seem a little more stable over 1.03b

Tried putting the jumpers back, no difference...

Unfortunately Aopen decided to solder the bios chips directly to the board so hot flash isn't going to be easy. Dammit

Thanks, yeah I did try that.

Good news is I fitted a (slightly damaged) chip holder thing and fixed it with a hotflash, bad news is I managed to kill one of the solder pads in the process and got burn marks on my PCI-E 1x slot:

Just not my day. At least it works

This is doing my nut... Every time I flash 1.06 or 1.07 I can't get past the Aopen Logo on reboot and have to hotflash back to 1.03b (which works fine every time)... is there anything else I might be missing here?

And you tried both Yonah and Merom upon reflash ? This would seem like some incompatible cpu or other component !?

    Edit : any idea on the changes from 1.06 -> 1.07 ?

Tried both Merom and Yonah and 3 different sets of Ram, not tried without/changing the graphics card. Kinda fed up with it now, think I'll just give up and maybe get back to it another day.

    Thanks anyway

1.06 is working well for me so far.
I’ve been using my board for less than a week so I’m still learning. This is what I’ve discovered when using my T2600 ES with it:

Its Prime95 stable at stock FSB at only 1.15V; yes I’m a silent PC freak
At 200 FSB it needs 1.35V to be Prime95 stable; seems like a big jump!
So far, I’ve had it Prime95 stable at 210 FSB, above that is more problematic, but as I said I’m looking for silence, so I’m only using a Scythe Katama @ 1000 rpm to cool it. It handles it no problem even though my ambient room temp is 30C this summer.

My current concern is that one of the board temp readings is stabilising at 61C when running at 200 FSB. I think it’s the NB temp; since I’ve disconnected the NB fan this isn’t so surprising. I bought a Zalman ZM-NBF47 to help matters but it doesn’t fit the NB. Can anyone recommend a decent passive NB cooler for this board?

As my system is extremely quiet I can notice any new sounds that emerge. When I push the FSB above 200, the board starts to make a nasty sound; WTF is that and can I do anything about it?

Speedstep doesn’t seem to fully work in that the frequency does change depending on CPU load but the voltage doesn’t. Is there a BIOS version that FULLY supports Speedstep?

One of the fan headers is dead and only one can change fan voltage when using Speedfan. Overall, I’m a bit disappointed with this board

To NB: I read, that a few guys just remove the plug from the NB-fan, it should work, when your FSB is not to high...

To SS: VCore change works only when FSB-jumpers at 1666 MHz
