I guess it's worth a try then. It's not much bother upgrading to an HE120.3 should my temps suck.

thats a good point. also if it really came down to it, for the purposes of maxing it out on water, you could air cool the gfx for the time being

I still find it odd that my CPU pushes out so much heat, compared with similar setups. But I guess that's just more incentive for me to get off my ass and get better cooling

i don't see yoru stepping in the first post. what are you average temps and clocks you've been seeing from others?

i still haven't found anyone with my stepping =\

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ight=0547+TPMW

It says CCWBE 0547 TPMW, but that's probably a typo. 1.42v for 2799 (we'll say 2800, 1MHz is a miniscule difference) and 1.612 for 2800 is a very big difference. It doesn't show his load temperatures because he stopped Prime95 before taking the screenshot. My idle temps are around 29-33C, and my load temps skyrocket to 45-49C. At 2750, load is about 42-43C. Pretty huge difference for such a tiny increase in speed.

EDIT: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...0&postcount=30 This is the exact post in question

EDIT 2: Of course there is the possibility that my RAM is making a huge difference in voltage need.. but I'm just guessing.

probably wouldn't hurt to upgrade your ram anyway. isn't taht stuff ancient? like discontinued in yr2000?

I think BH-5 was discontinued in 2003, somebody feel free to correct me. I don't really see a need to upgrade it, as far as performance goes, BH-5 is king. I was just wondering if his RAM (especially since it is running at looser timings, and is clocked a decent amount less) is putting less strain on the memcontroller.. I don't know if BH-5 strains the memcontroller much.

yea i'm not sure when it was discontinued, but i thought there was new and better... doesn't really matter, thats another discussion in itself. i wouldn't think it would be the bh5 itself causing the strain but the voltage its running at. i noticed that when i bumped up my vcore, temps would go up obviously when i bumped up the vdimm temps would still rise. not as much though.

i'm saying try some ram @ 2.6 or 2.7 volts and see if your temps improve. its worth a shot

Do you think buying a dual procore rad will lower my temps much? I'm hitting 43-44c with 2.85 ghz and 1.35v. And with 2.95/1.44v I hit 48c :/

You mean replace teh BIX2 with another dual 120mm? I am unfamiliar with procore but doubt any other 120.2 would be significantly better than a BIX2.

Its gettin hot cuz its CCB1E, they are toasty! Most of its in the IHS

I'm getting some UCCC eventually. I'm gonna concentrate on getting a decent HDD first though.

    Swiftech Storm CPU block
Swiftech MCW60 VGA block (trying to find an european store!)
    Swiftech MCP655 pump
    BlackIce Xtreme 3 radiator

    Any suggestions there?
I was always under the impression that thermal offset should always be subtracted from your actual temp. So a -8C would be like 40- -8 or 48C. One of my old chips seemed to idle below ambient (around 22C) and had a -8C offset so 30C made sense to me. Also I had just had a 148 on the board that had normal idle and load temps so it wasn't the board.

But that theory sort of disappeared after I saw positive offset chips had normal temps.. no way your temps are 32C with 1.55v. I still think you should keep a negative offset in the back of your mind, in case temps ever get too cool for your current cooling. Positive offsets IMO should be ignored

Temps sensors aren't at all accurate anyway, so really doesn't matter either way I guess!

Any of you tested a CCWBE 0609 FPAW on Phase Change yet?

I'm about to test one as soon as my new GFX cards get here

But it seems like a hot one, just like my 0550 UPMW. I'm on air and limited to 2.8 ish on ~1.35v, temps are through the roof!

How much did your load temps drop after removing the IHS? What vcore does it take for 2.8 prime95?

its nice to see the 0530TPMW under honorable mentions

i would like to know if this average if with/without the IHS and what type of cooling. im assuming its no IHS with water cooling.

i primed 2.75 @ 1.5v and core 0 froze at 7.5 hours and core 1 was good for 20 hours. going to try burnin and see if it works. hoping to hit 2.8 on air at least.

If you froze at 7.5 hours, I suspect heat was the culprit. What are you temps?

I popped the top right after I got it, made sure it worked, tested for like 10 mins.. all I remember is that is that it idled at 36c! crazy.. it went down to like 32c sans IHS. 2800 takes 1.375 vcore..

I might be fretting too soon as I have fresh AS5 on the core now and it seems to not like that.. once it set I was able to get like 50mhz more on the same vcore.. so maybe the jury should stay out on this for a bit..

yea, ive gone through about 3 optys in the past 2 months and the AS5 hasnt even cured before i got rid of em

this 0530 is a keeper unless i can get a CCB1E. hoping for better temps and OC when it finally cures.
