Presler C1 (920) or wait for smalest Conroe?

    Hi,

    sorry for my poor english.
iIm not shure what to buy. I see the OC from the D805, but i think its better to wait for price-cut for 920. My budget is not big enough for buying a big processor. What do you think about the performance for the 1.83 Conroe and a D920 ? Every Processor should be overclocked and cooled by Water. What do you think about the power consumption? If i buy an D920 i will wait for C1 stepping (not seen in germany atm AFAIK).

    Regards

Just buy D920 C1 and then wait for 2-3 Conroe Stepping and (maybe) some price drop for Decent Mobos and E6600 (4mb L2)
IMO better If you have tight budget

id buy the presler, they are a proven chip so far and have support already out. the conroe boards are unknown and they will be pricey. get the pentium D.

    Hi,

thanks. I like the D805 but i miss some features to save power. My rig runs some night to download bis images oder firmware (Fun is that im working on the biggest SUN Microsystems Servers up to 107 Procs ) or upload some data to sun. Fot this time it is not best pratiice to burn on full power if they can throttle it. Hehe, Money is not the problem - but i have a wife

    Regards

do not get the 805. spend the extra 50 bucks and get the 920. and if youre worried about power consumption, you might want to head on over to the amd section, those chips take much less watts compared to the 920.
