PS
was 225 fsb the highest you can go? You think it's mobo or CPU problem?
CPU: i3 540 @ 4.3GHz, Mobo: Gigabyte GA-H55M-D2H, Cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 48, RAM: 2x2GB OCZ Gold 1333MHz, Video: GTS 250, PS: Raidmax Modular 630W
Why AMD's results is so low? My Opteron165@2.5GHz (278x9) on ASUS A8N-E, with gf6200, ram@228MHz, 2.5-3-3-7:Originally Posted by VictorWang

The first 3DMark05 run on Conroe was 3008, so give VW time and we'll see what happen...
Cas 3 @ DDR400 or slower even will do 33s 1m.Originally Posted by PetNorth
That chip must be crippled. That is very slow.
exactly a 3200+ @ 2.2Ghz and Cas2 does better.. So I think it is fake.Originally Posted by fhpchris

Modern Ram, makes an old overclocker miss BH-5 and the fun it was
i am following in silence the conroe threads and now this one with amd2
i think a lot of ppl are jumping into conclusions.......conroe seems very good and amd2 apears to suck large.......but we havent seen nothing but troubles with the mobos and the OC capabilityes.....
the guys who have the chips are making an effort ....for sure....to give results and proper benchmarks......
its very nice that they share their 1st runs........i hope they will continue
as for the amd2.......well i am a fanboy of perfomance price ratio .......so i will wait and see of has the best chip.......enjoying my cabne and my venus while i wait for some final and solid results
till then
keep up the nice working showing your experiences with us
my AM2 x2 4600+ (stock 200*12 / 512kb*2)
overclk to 225*12=2.7G
is the higest stable clk at vcore=1.35v
there are no options to change the vcore or lower the m/p, so I have to test all the thing under those stupid settings.
anyway, better have than nth.
my conroe sys cannot overclk at all

Yup found the benchmarks
Why won't AMD up the L2 Cache? why still use 512k*2?Originally Posted by VictorWang
Why is it slower than the 939 counterparts?
What's going on here lol.
Also, is the overclocking on Conroe limited to the board..Is it an Intel branded board with no OC options? or can you jsut OC the conroe at ALL!
AM2 sucks plain and simple.
K8 wasn't BW starved even in dual core and 6.4GBs.The low latency of DDR1 did wonders and the high latency of DDR2 will be a problem in at least matching socket 939 performance.
hummm 39 secs thats sad so is 5-5-5 timings why not use better timings but then again you are having problems so that explains alot.
my 4400+ is around 30-31 at 2.7 and as low as 28s as in my sig.
Still impressive conroe results
keep up the good work

Easy there. It's not that the Conroe can't OC, there are no settings in his clearly beta BIOS that allow any adjustments to OC it on his board right nowBut as we can see, the fact that you can OC it at all is indeed a huge achievement since the conroe setup wouldn't even budge a bit
Victor, which vid card on the AM2 benches? Any idea of the manufacture date on the AM2?
