    Aspire Refuses To Turn On

Last night I did the 5v/12v rail mod on my Aspire 520 watt PSU without a hitch. I bridged the PS_ON (green) wire with another ground on the ATX header using a paperclip, checked to see if the mod actually worked, and then shut everything off for the night. However, this morning I went to turn on the PSU using the same method, and the power supply refused to turn on. I changed the cable, checked that the switch was in the correct position, and verified the integrity of the mod, but the PSU still would not turn on. There is no visible damage to any circuitry inside the PSU, and as near as I can tell this is just completely out of the blue. Any suggestions?

Sounds dead to me. Aspires have a bad rap for some reason, but I've been using a 520W on one of my systems for about a year no problem.

Yeah, mine's been running fine (if undervolting) for over two years, and I don't really think this failure was caused by the mod---probably just a random death. In any case, I ordered another one shipped overnight from newegg as a temp solution, but I'll probably get a PC P&C 510 Express when I have the cash.

That PC P&C 510 seems really expensive at $220. Why not go for a Powerstream 520W for $120? I'm still looking for a $100 w/ shipping deal before I buy one.

OCZ should have 2 new units in the next 3 weeks (I hope). 600W and 700W GameXtream units.

    Dual PCI-e connectors (SLI/Crossfire )
    4 x 12V rails at 15A (OCP at 50A total or 22A on 1 rail)
    6 x SATA connectors
    20 + 4pin ATX
    2 x 4pin combinable for 8pin

Sketchy info on pricing at the moment, but I think that the 700W unit is going to be sub $150.00 (Don't hold me to that, I have not received any info)

EDIT: Sorry that was off topic....doesn't help you with your seemingly dead unit

If the 700W's gonna be at the price, do you expect a drop in price of older psus?

This unit is not going to be like the powerstreams with adjustable rails, we are still making those, this is a new line so I can't really say about the price reductions on the other units.
