    Hey guys..

Can anyone tell me which bios for this board is the best when overclocking an X2 3800+ Manchester on the MSI K8N Neo2? I have tried 1.C official and 1.C Final Beta with very bad results.. Only 2.15GHz overclock no matter what voltage! When using 1.D2 I was able to get 2.4GHz with standard voltage - Hurray! But im not satisfied, as it takes 1.47v just to get 2.5GHz stable.
I think thats quite a big increase from 1.35-1.47v just to get 100MHz more! Is it really possible?
So which bios will help me get more MHz or doesn's it have anything to do with the bios at all!?

    Thx in advance

I doubt that the change of bios will improve your OC.

how come u r a ultra-d user and says something like that

uu should find ur high O/C ( may be not 100% stable) with ur current bois then try the 704-2bta, 510, 623 and see urself that it does matter when talking about highest o/c

I'm stuck at 2.95 and could use some help. I haven't updated my sig but I have an X2 3800 Toledo on an Expert with bios 04.06.2006 from the website, and am considering Merlin's 10.07.2006.

    thanks!

Well it can improve your memory OC, but the CPU... well i really don't see how.

BIOS version only matters on DFI LP boards and only where memory timings are concerned. Only DFI uses three separate romsip tables that are tailored towards different RAM ICs. All other mobos like MSI, Asus, etc. use just one generic romsip table for all the BIOS versions.

I think even with DFI bios, you can make the three different romsip versions identical by manually adjusting the memory timings.

I also believe BIOS version doesn't really matter. I get identical results with any DFI BIOS when all settings are manually entered. The only difference I see is that the modded bios just tend not to be as stable as the officials. JMO, many people would not agree with me.

My IHS mount must be pretty awful. Difference can be up to 7C.
Also if core 0 is under load only temps are 37C and 35C, but with core 1 only it is 37C 42C.

    Should be the IHS?!

My ihs is gone and Core 1 still loads 3-6C hotter than Core 0

    Tom|Nbk,
When you say under load at 45-48, how are you loading and for how long?
I also use an Arctic Freezer pro (with as5) and if I load both cores with Prime95 for 2 minutes at 2650MHz and 1.43v, I have temps from coretemp at 62-68C. (At idle the temps are 40-42, so there we are in the same area.)

Either your cooler is much cooler, or my load must be higher.
I'm thinking the Arctic just can't handle the o/c and I need to go to H2O.

I got mine to the 2950mhz-ish area on 1.5 or 1.525 Volts, but it wasn't primestable, so I yanked it down a notch to 2.7ghz 1.425V... I even had it to 3ghz, but then I got a reboot in xp after about 15 sec, can't remember the voltage though.
