New Yate Loon D12SL-12 fan, thoughts?

Hey everyone, I just got these in and am wondering what you guys think...

They're bluish-clear Yate Loon D12SL-12 fans with blue LEDs. Interestingly, the blade and housing design is slightly different than the standard black/orange D12SL-12 fans...resulting in slightly different specs (below). Personally, I'm not really big on the LED fan thing any more....but there are a lot of people who currently are.

    Fan Size: 120mm x 120mm x 25mm
    Speed: 1250 +/- 10% RPM
    Airflow: 38.5 CFM
    Noise: 25.4 dBA
    Static Pressure: 0.8mm H2O (1.1mm H2O Max)
    Bearing: Sleeve
    Voltage: 12V
    Current: .15A Max
    Fan Life: 20,000 hours

Now, since I'm not set up at the moment for fan comparison testing, I do have one of these fans which I would be willing to send to someone... if they're relatively well equipped for that sort of thing. Anyway, thoughts/comments would be appreciated.

I'm using the orange Yates on my rad right now (the color gives it "personality", heh). But I really like the noise to CFM without having to use a fan controller.

I'd switch if the LED's weren't too bright. How do they look?

Slightlty slower, no? Interesting. We can only get the black ones or the overpriced rebadged nexus here in the UK.

Cronic, PM me with your shipping address and I'll go ahead and send this one over to you on Monday to test out.

mikenam: the fans were custom ordered from Yate Loon esclusively for PTS.

creidiki: according to the paperwork that Yate Loon provided me with, the rotational speed is the same as the black SL-12, just that pretty much everything else is a little different... I'm guessing that it's likely due to the slightly different blade and housing design. Though, I still want to get ahold of the actual YL testing paperwork for the black SL-12 as well.

    yate loon trivia

    Petra,

I purchased several blue led yate loon D12SM-12's along with some black versions a while ago. I haven't seen any medium speed yate loons for a while and thought you may want to consider stocking them in the future. At 55cfm and 1650rpm they are similar to papst 4412 F/2GL's in output at a fraction of the cost. As I remember, the led versions are virtually equivalent to the black loons. I also have medium speed 80mm (D80SM-12) and 92mm (D90SM-12) models that are just as impressive as the 120mm fans. I don't believe they are available in the states at the present time. You could become a one stop center for quiet fans.

You might want to register as a vendor at www.silentpcreview.com and post what you have in stock as there is always an interest in yate loon and panaflo L1A's. I only found out about your shop since lurking here. There are some nexus holdouts at spcr, but you have those too.

i got the fan in and it is awesome. It preforms very well, and moves a good amount of air. The fan is virtually silent. It is no louder than the cooler master i relaced it with and moves twice as much air. I should also note that the leds are positioned in the best manor. they are in the frame and point inward towards the center of the fan. I really prefer this manor of led mounting because you are not blinded by the light when the fan is positioned vertically in either a push or pull configuration (which is the most common position we use). If anyone is looking for a super silent fan and is partial to led i highly suggest you give this fan a spin. If you want a little more flow or don't like clear leds fans then the black yate loons would be for you. I really am amazed at the amount of flow and the silent nature of this fan and the incredible price of these fans.
Thanks again Petra for the fan!

I have 4 blue ones in my system. They were spec'ed better than the orange ones and no one ever answered my questions about them, so I figured what the hell? 2 on my rad and one intake, one exhaust. I just have to disable the LED's cuz they annoy me. I have them hooked up to my fan controller and I can't hear these fans at all.

Performance-pcs.com also sells them for those ppl in the Southeast US.

I purchased a case from them and I can say that Hank is a top-notch seller. I can recommend them with hesitation. [edit2]without hesitation[/edit2]

Static pressure is on the low side for radiator fans (aim for at least 0.15" / 3.84mm as a rule of thumb). Sweet for case airflow though.

Depends on what radiator you put them on. A BIX would be a bad choice while a PA series rad thermochill were designed with these fans in mind.

Where did you get the static pressure spec?
