Makes sense, I figured it was a ground but wasn't 100%.

It is definately covered, card is a BFG OC. I'll just run it to another ground for the time being

You can see the white dots there pretty clearly. Where would be another "easy" ground location...without scraping off a "dot"...is there one?
Can I just run the wire to the back of the slot (were the DVI connectors mount), or maybe even the waterblock bolts comming through the card

Ok, just finished the mod, worked like a charm! 1.40v right on the dot. Currently working to find the max clocks

Wow! At stock 1.2v I maxed the core at about 550mhz...at 1.4v, I am stable a 675mhz @ 42c Load

Picked up about another 2,000 points in 3dmark03. I'll run 05 & 06 tomorrow, time to call it a night hehe

alcohol or acetone will remove it.. havent tried alcohol, but I think it works.

Conductive ink can be found at "car accessory shops".. It's commonly used to repair the heat-wires in the rearwindows of cars.

pencil is not reliable , not easy to put down, and doesnt hold in place. Look around at all the solder pads areound the area.. a little bit of graphite accidentally left behind and you can easily short-circuit something.

If you cant solder, conductive paint, like defrost kit, is definetely MUCH better.. at very least you can see exactly where it went, and it will stick in place. You've already bought a $300 card.. you dont want to come back here complaining its broken because you were too lazy to spend another $3-5.

I honestly found connecting 31 to 32 to be the easiest method of this. Pin 32 is at ground potential.

I took a sewing needle with the smallest head I could find. Only touch the head of the needle to some conductive paint(it is rear window refogger paint in the picture) not dipping but just getting the very tip and touching between pin 31 and 32 then pin 31 and 30(I was going for 1.55V, obviously just do 31 and 32 if you want 1.45v). If you look even I went overboard with too much paint. It doesn't get much simpler but I can't stress enough how little paint is required. Don't dip the needle just a barely visible amount on the tip.

The "right" pad. Picture is correct. Sorry for the confusion. I was trying to say just look at the connections in the picture, I should have not said a left or right at all. I was meaning the next pad to the left of d511 "in the picture" didn't come out sounding good at all. I typed that wording really bad.

It's why a picture is worth a 1,000 words. Always look at the pictures, words can be easily mistyped, misinterupted, etc

So nobody found where pin 31 is located at the edge of the card among D511 and D508? I'll hopefully be getting my eVGA 7900GT this week and will be watercooling it... and I will also find a dipswitch to hook everything up to... Very nice solution, so getting 1.55v this very easy way would be very nice (and of course with the dipswitch from 1.3 to 1.55 in 0.05 increments ;-)

Yes, with D511 (pin 21) and D508 (pin 30) to ground you get 1.50V. Check the tables.

Yes you can, i did it and it measured 1,5volts, btw i didn't gain mhzs from 1,4 to 1,5 volts... Maybe 10 or 20 mhz... I don't know surely but i thought i would get over 700 with 1,5 ( got 670@1,4 ) but no, it didn't much than 670-680... Maybe some other problems... didnt try too much tho

this makes perfect 100% sense.
usually, added voltage has diminishing returns. Since you are quite high at 1.5V, perhaps you are also hitting overcurrent protection.. For most people (those using air or water), I think 1.35-1.45V is the sweet spot.

Ofcourse if you have dry ice or phase-change, go ahead and try to beat LardArse with 1.7V+.
