    Dell buys Alienware???

    LOOKS LIKE DELL is actually buying Alienware, I would say it comes as a shock, but then again, I would not protest too loudly if I was accused of knowing when I wrote this story. This has a lot of implications, some minor, some major. Especially for me. I might have to wear a bunny suit with big ears, for crying out loud.

    Here is the source

    Intresting what the following months will follow by these 2 companies...
    When Mercedes brought their C111 to Talledega years ago and blew away the closed course record did it count? Yes..
    That was a "factory" car and a "one of" that no one could buy and was never sold.
    Records are records and that is a fact so get over it.

    Maybe alienware can teach Dell that cooling computer hardware is a key factor in determining the systems consistent functional ability (sp?)

    I really hope this is the case, even better I hope they will allow transfers between the 2 companies. As I currently work at Hell (tm) and I would jump at any oppurtunity to get the fsck out of this place. I love to build my own systems, and it kills me to support the POS bricks we ship out by the millions. (It kills me even more to support my dumb@$$ customer base)
    As it is, I am a high level tech, and I support every single line of business for GTS (workstation, wireless, advanced software support, printers, etc.), so I hope that would at least give me a leg up if something like this happens. If I hear any extra details that I can tell you guys about, I will let you know.

    I am not suprised nor do I care. Micheal dell wants to have the "ultimate gaming " computer he has said that him self. He is obviously interested in the gaming market or they wouldn't have made that fugly quad gtx machine. I think he feels buying out Alienware will seal the deal.

    The truth is they will probably be ok machines but any one with a bit of knowledge can spend 40% less and get 40% more performance.

    Looks like Dell spokesman is crushing all and any rumors / ideas regarding this. Says that the dude that started it all works for VoodooPC and doesn't know why they would start such a rumor.

    I can understand the views, because there are very few of us left in the US, and we are even in a higher level, pay for support business class offering. Our India support sucks and those of us that know how everything works inside the company, still hate it when having to talk to or transfer over there for whatever reason. Anyway back on topic, this purchase was discussed in a team meeting and all but confirmed. If I can get a hard yes or no, I will let you guys know.

    Like I thought, the Inquirer is full of it

    Dell has moved to quash rumors that suggested the company has acquired rival PC vendor Alienware

    This has been coming for such a long time.
    The moment alienware went mainstream I said to myself "when is Dell gonna pick them up?"
    And of course Dell cant keep their hands to themselves so Alienware is now in big brother Dells sandbox.

    Now the question is...
    Dell is pricey
    Alienware is pricey

    Will the computers get pricier?

    People dont buy alienware because it is infact so pricey.
    Dell computers are cheap.
    The XPS is insanely expensive I think they should come down in price perhaps sell them at cost in turn generating a client base and gaining an even larger list of customers.

    if dell bought alienware, they'd have to pay like 3 billion for it... even though its only worth about 100 million, haha...

    "The command and conquer model," said the EA CEO, "doesn't work. If you think you're going to buy a developer and put your name on the label... you're making a profound mistake."

    Alternate Source ::

    Quote from news :: http://reviews.cnet.com/4531-10921_7-6464030.html

    While no word has been officially released from either Dell or Alienware, we heard from a reliable source this morning that the purchase has indeed gone down. Speculation began on March 5 after a blog post by Voodoo PC CEO Rahul Sood. The new source, a contact at a high-end vendor who requested anonymity, claims that two of his company's suppliers confirmed that the deal has been done, and he also claims that his company has received an influx of resumes from Alienware employees.

    An Alienware PR representative did not deny the claim but instead forwarded us a prewritten statement from the company that said: "At this time, Alienware will not comment on any speculative stories or rumors concerning Dell and Alienware's association. While we do believe that news stories like this are ultimately a strong positive reinforcement of the Alienware brand and the company's success, we will not comment on speculation or potential future events. As always, Alienware is committed to offering consumers and businesses with the best high-performance, innovative PC products on the market and we remain manically focused on that goal."

    Dell did not return calls asking for comment.

    Dell has taken a lot of flak in high-end system reviews over the past year or so due to its exclusive use of Intel processors. Alienware, however, currently sells AMD-based systems through its Aurora line of desktops. Owning a subsidiary that sells AMD-based systems could be an easier path for Dell toward reclaiming the performance crown, rather than incorporating Athlons or Semprons into its current Intel-exclusive assembly line. We'll presumably know more when the deal is officially announced, or whenever we learn the specifics of upcoming products.

    Retort from AFI::
    now you can get ed twice by the same company
