Yeah they really need to fix that, most people just don't bother taking the coating off but I've heard of it leaking around and sticking to the mobo anyways. Hope it fixes up well.

Ouch Sorry for your loss. This is why you use the stock AMD back plate and not the stupid crap companies give you with their heatsinks.

    learning new stuff everyday
what can i say....if it killed my cabye 0540 i would be very angry....
as for the dfi has been replaced already.....
we did manage to make a SS at 3602mhz....but the time we lost with the stupid backplate and the trip to the shop to buy another, killed most of our time to bench the opty
i guess we will have to do it again

Steel, if that is a cyanoacrylate/superglue, simple acetone will dissolve it rather quickly. Also, if it has any kind of other adhesive in it, the acetone will make it gummy as well and easier to wipe off. I'd also recommend "Lectra Clean" by CRC, which can be found in Home Depot/Lowe's, usually on the bottom shelf in the electrical section. Lectra Clean is also VERY good at removing heatsink compound, so good that you'll never go back to anything else, I guarantee it. (it stinks though, use it outside)
