Thread: New Memory Tweaker for Intel Chipsets

    For information:
    -Read delay usually settings is 3 or 4 for ddr,4 or 5 for ddr2 400/533 5 or higher for other ddr2.
    (Read delay is a timing between memory chip and processor)
    -Refresh cycle time usually settings are ~14 for ddr, ~20 for ddr2 400,25 and higher for other ddr2.
    -Page close idle Timer is setting at 8 on 915 chipset,8 on 925 chipset if pat disabled,
    and 3 or 4 if pat enabled.3 for other chipsets.
    -Other values is calculed with specifications of your memory spd.
    For example,Write Precharge = Cas - 1 +BL/2 + tWR.

    BL(Burst Lenght) practically always 8.
    tWR(Write recovery time) is 3 for ddr or ddr2/400 and 4 for ddr2/533.

    If your have ddr2/533 and your Cas latency is 4,Write Precharge = 4 - 1 + (8/4) + 4 = 11.

    On 865/875 chipset Read delay adjust = -0,5.
    Example,if your Read delay is 6 and Read delay ajust is Enabled, Read delay=5,5.

    Nice work, could you perhaps edit the program interface so that it shows acronyms (short names) of the parameters like this?

    RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD)

    etc, because it would be easier to understand (most people know the parameter names from BIOS).

    Also:
    1. Why 945 chipset doesn't show command rate option?
    2. Which one of the options is the Write Recovery Time (I have that in P5LD2 BIOS)? I believe that value is missing because in BIOS it is set to like 4-5 and I am not seeing anything similar here:

    What are best latencies for my Twinmoss 512MB pc5300 sticks? Chips say Elpida but cpuz and everest say that these are Infineon chips. Now I'm at 274MHz and cas4-4-4-10 latencies, can these handle 4-3-3-10?

    Nazu, this should be the thread for eventual bug reports and requests for new features, not tech support for your own memory sticks.

    You should start a new thread with such questions, not to mention that you can try yourself to set it at 4-3-3-10 and run some stability tests instead of asking.

    Even if someone here has identical sticks to yours they may behave different in another system due to slight variations in voltages/timings/frequencies.

    Okay maybe I will do my own thread for this If I change the latencies of my memory and it doesn't work, does it reset the changes so it will boot again with my previous settings?

    For tRCD, tRP... I do that on the next version.
    1: I don't find the option "command rate" in datasheet.

    For I865 I have memory acceleration... I can set it at enabled or auto... Maybe you can put this in? So it's easier to test what is faster.

    Can you give me some examples for Corsiar TWIN2X2048-6400PRO using 975 chipset, p5wd2-e premium please.

    I have no numbers for write to precharge delay as well.

    Thanks for sharing this tweaker with us I can also confirm it works on the P4P800-SE, which is an i865PE based mainboard. There are a lot of tweaks I'm not sure about, but I am learning
    The only problems I have with your utility is that Performance Mode does not enable when the FSB is over 200Mhz (It is only partially enabled). and the Performance Mode does not enable when I use memory dividers. Apart from that, it is very good

    Settings go to the chipset registers and if you reboot they are lost. Program is not meant for permanent changes -- just for easy testing and finding out your own stable minimum which you later set in BIOS in case of standard timings. Extended (hidden) timings cannot be changed from BIOS so for those you will have to run program and apply settings each time you boot.

    You have ECC memory -- that probably means that any errors resulting from the settings that are too sharp result in loss of performance due to error correction mechanisms kicking in. Try to tweak timings gradually to find exactly where you are starting to lose performance.

    at the questions..
    Possible to adjust dividers in the flight to CPU/DDR?
    It's not possible.

    For Write recovery time and Command rate,impossible to find it in the MCHBAR.
    Is someone know where it's hide...
    But it's possible to add "Read precharge" and "burst length",perhaps in the next version.
    On the other hand,I don't sure that options "Read/Write" and "Write/Read"
    are very useful.
    Your opinion?
