need help with non powering laptop

i just took this compaq presario 2100 laptop apart. i was going to put a 2.4ghz P4 in to replace the celeron 1.8. turns out the celeron has no IHS and the p4 does so it wouldnt fit. now, when i put the computer back together, it wont boot... at all. wont even power on. can anyone advise me on what could be wrong? i tripple checked everything, and it just wont boot. i really dont want to have to buy another one and then swap the HD's out, but if i must then i will. i need to fix this by sunday. any advice?

double check all the connections and please for the love of god tell me that you used ESD protection when working on it..
Fast computers breed slow, lazy programmers
The price of reliability is the pursuit of the utmost simplicity. It is a price which the very rich find most hard to pay.

EDIT: i thought about it when i woke up this morning, and i pushed the reset button... it booted right up. everything works fine now. ugh. im so glad its ok.

always discharge any static elec. before i work on anything electrical. plus, the computer was on a glass table, and i touched something metal before. i dont know what other connections to check? i checked the cpu was in all the way, it is. the monitor screen was connected, the heatsink fan was connected, two ribbons connected, keyboard and another. i got it to turn on one time, but it kept just clicking and restarting after about 1.5 seconds. very strange, im going to have to take it to a repair shop tomorrow, i dont want to but i think its the only thing thats going to fix it. i dont know much about laptops, other then i dont like them much for this very reason
