    Important info on Micron chips:
    The Stilt
"It seems that the 3.7ns chips are the best overclockers with tight latencies.
My Corsair 5400UL v1.2 sticks use MT47H64M8BT-37E (rev. A) chips and they are able to hit DDR960 speed with fairly tight 4-2-2-1 latencies. They can also take voltage up to 2.9V

My Corsair 8000UL sticks used MT47H64M8BT-3 (rev. A) chips, and they worked just fine at DDR800 3-2-2-1 with only 2.1V. Mushkin XP6400 seem to use the identical chips, but they can´t even post with 3-2-2-8 latencies with 2.3V (according to Legitreviews). So there is quite much difference between the steppings...

    So:

    Corsair TwinX kit 1GB 5400UL v1.2 = Micron "D9" MT47H64M8BT-37E (rev. A)"

"Wintec has also used those 3.7ns chips in their AmpX 5400 sticks. P/N: 39137183K-UA"

Hey, good job mate, write its tanken from D9 fat body list though.. - PM Fugger and ask him to wipe the old thread, and sticky this one, he'll do it

BB mod's banned, so the thread aint being updated @@ the other one...

I gave the list for the first thread, not BB mods's. If you follow the first thread you will see .

FUGGER PM'ed me, we have talked and now this new thread is up. I PM'ed back FUGGER that the new thread is released, but probably he is busy now, to stick this and remove the old one. We just have to wait FUGGER to show up here and fix this .

I have also added new stuff in this thread, so its not the same as the old one.

    Oki

But this rocks :P - I've personally already put my money on the 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix - They're 322USD as far as I remember - Quite nice price (2x1GB PC6400) - But... Im all new at DDR2, I'm was A64 fanboy, untill I got some info on the yonah, before results was up, I knew that it would be a killer... - I dont know yet wheather using 3-2-2-8 or 5-5-5-16 is best.. - I mean with max freq included...

I'm Intel fanboy, I tried AMD systems many times, but on my heart always stays Intel, even if sometimes these systems are not that fast as AMD systems. I like them because of other things, but this will be offtopic, so I'll stop here .

For DDR2 the best situation is like on DDR memory - the highest possible frequency with as much tight timings as possible.

    But whats the balance?? - UTT / BH5 1.5(2)-2-2-5 @ 270 beated 2.5-3-3-x @ 300 mhz, and 2.5-4-4-x @ 340mhz?

    Is 3-2-2-8 in DDR2 at 300 mhz faster than 5-5-5-16 @ 600mhz???

    Thanks,

600Mhz is way too much, but 300-350 @ tight timings is more achievable with the right RAM and CPU, and around 500-550 but with high timings. At that case the 300-350 setting will be better.

in my experience unless its running 1:1 the higher frequencies dont matter very much at all. if memory bandwidth is higher than processor bandwidth there is an incredibly small performance gain.

so basicly, find your highest fsb at 1:1 with the processor bandwidth (with a 4xHT for amd'ers its 1:1) and then tighten the timings from there. this should yeild the best results

however, if lowering the mhz a few notches lets you put the CAS down a .5 then that will yeild better results

i have a link that sheds more light on the subject, ill brb to edit my post

edit: heres the link to the info

    http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/167/4

    to highlight the important parts
as we all seem to know Cas (the first timing number) is by far the most important in terms of memory performance. as highlighted here

"If we compare a DDR memory to a DDR2 memory running under the same clock, the one with the lower latency will be the fastest. Thus, if you have a DDR400 CL3 memory and a DDR2-400 CL4 memory, your DDR400 will be faster."

however what isnt common knowledge is this

"Keep in mind that DDR2 memories have an additional parameter called AL (additional latency), which must be added to their nominal latency (CL) in order to get the total latency."

    so this means

(CAS + AL) x (Clock Tick Duration) = Main Performance for DDR2

    vs

(CAS) x (Clock Tick Duration) = Main Performance for DDR

"The additional latency (AL) is usually found on the memory module technical specs (usually a PDF file for downloading on the manufacturer website)."

now the breakdown of MHZ and how it works with the timings.

"On a DDR400 CL3 memory, this “3” means that the memory delays three clock cycles to start delivering the requested data. Since this memory runs at 200 MHz, each clock tick measures 5 ns (T= 1/f). Thus its latency if of 15 ns.

Now on a DDR2-533 CL3 AL0 memory, this “3” also means that the memory delays three clock cycles to start delivering the request data, but since this memory runs at 266 MHz, each clock tick measures 3.75 ns, so its latency is of 11.25 ns, making this memory faster to data delivery than our DDR400 CL3 memory. So a DDR2-533 CL4 and AL0 memory has the same latency as a DDR400 CL3. Notice that we are assuming the additional latency as zero, or we would need to take it into account, i.e., a DDR2 CL3 AL1 memory has in reality a latency of four clock cycles which would equal 15ns."

the clock tick duration for memory speeds

    Memory.........................Clock Tick Duration (each one)
    DDR266.........................7.5 ns
    DDR333.........................6 ns
    DDR400 and DDR2-400.....5 ns
    DDR2-533......................3.75 ns
    DDR2-667......................3 ns
    DDR2-800......................2.5 ns

dont get AL (additional latency) mixed up with the other timings. the other timings mean this

    * CL: CAS Latency. The time it takes between a command having been sent to the memory and when it begins to reply to it. It is the time it takes between the processor asking for some data from the memory and it returning it.
    * tRCD: RAS to CAS Delay. The time it takes between the activation of the line (RAS) and the column (CAS) where the data are stored in the matrix.
    * tRP: RAS Precharge. The time it takes between disabling the access to a line of data and the begin of the access the another line of data.
    * tRAS: Active to Precharge Delay. How long the memory has to wait until the next access to the memory can be initiated.
    * CMD: Command Rate. The time it takes between the memory chip having been activated and when the first command may be sent to the memory. Sometimes this value is not informed. It usually is T1 (1 clock speed) or T2 (2 clock speeds).

oh and you're welcome in advance

assuming the ddr2 actually had zero additional latency (AL)

    CAS 1.5 @ DDR540 = about 5.625ns
    CAS 2.5 @ DDR2-680 = about 7.5ns

but since DDR2 has no half numbers and 1.5 CAS isnt real apparently these are more realistic numbers

    CAS 2 @ DDR540 = about 7.5ns
    CAS 3 @ DDR2-680 = about 9ns

and thats assuming that the DDR2 doesnt have AL!
add one clock cycle to that DDR2 and now you are up to 12ns!

makes ya wish intel had CAS 1.5 DDR533 for thier 1066FSB processors!

Is it just me, or is the Corsair TWIN2X1024-8000UL 2GB Kit DDR2-1000 XMS2-8000 Xtreme Performance Memory 2*1GB kit impossible to get a hold on? Have they stopped producing them, or is it a 4*512MB kit?

On Cosairs HP they have listet Corsair TWIN2X1024-8000UL DDR2-1000 XMS2-8000 Xtreme Performance Memory as a 2*512 kit, and Memmory size 1024 under the paired memmory part of the table.

These RAM might be of interest for the list to, I got 2 x 2 x 512 MB-Kits...

    Syncmax DDR2 express PC6400 4-4-4-12 @ 1,9 V

I was told, that they have D9-Chips, but right now I´m quiet not shure about this information.

Interesting ist, that the only need 1,9 V @ PC6400...

Up to now, I didn´t had a chance to test, im still waiting für the AOpen i975Xa...

I was told, that they have D9-Chips, but right now I´m quiet not shure about this information.

Interesting ist, that the only need 1,9 V @ PC6400...

Those chips look exactly the same as my PSC on my PQI Value PC2-4200 sticks... I don't have a motherboard to test those sticks.. too bad

The sticks look like the same, but the chips itself look different...

We will see, when we have the boards...

Right now I'm testing A-Data DDR2 800Mhz. It came without heatspreaders and it has Elpida chips on it. Later I'll post some pictures.

Until now I managed to clock them to 700Mhz @ 3/3/3/6/2 @ 2,3 volts on ASUS P5WD2 Premium board. The RAM is cool to touch even at this voltage. Soon I'll make the vdimm mod to see if it can handle high voltages.
