    dual vs quad

    Is 2 sets of dual memory better than 1 set of quad memory or is it better the other way around?

    Assuming they are the same type of ram, it doesn't matter.

    they are the same just one in a 4gb pack and the other in a 8gb pack. in a 8 gb pack if i want to can i take out 2 sticks of it will it still work fine?

    Yes.
    However, since you are talking 6gb of ram I am assuming you are talking about core i7 which will have other implications as far as your mem choice.

    no its is ddr2-800 i might take out 2gb of the 8gb quad if i need to put it in another computer and i waned to make sure that would work.
