Try DDR 333 and see if it helps.

It should be able to work. But if you are using a 32bit OS it can only use upto 3GB of the 4GB of memory. However it should boot fine with 4GB. This is the limitation of a 32bit OS, I don't know exactly why.

I can't help you with the instability problem. I guess you should first test the DIMMs one at a time. If DDR400 doesn't work I think you should loosen the timings as much as possible, and then tighten them untill they are not stable anymore. One tip is to put the worst overclocking DIMMs in slot 1 and 2 and the best in the slots further from the cpu.

Douglaster if yr FX55 is ClawHammer than it`s not possible to run 4x1G sticks at DDR400 - use DDR333. If it`s new E revision than it does have weak mem controller and must be replaced with warranty

put 3 sticks in, and boot up, then do your bios settings and remember to enable 2T, and then exit bios, power down, put 4th stick in.

    that should do it.

All normal settings are done, 2t, 333 and all other timings stuff

One thing i notice is when i put all 4 sticks, the Vmem increases, even if i put 2.6, it starts at 2.73 ! Very wierd indeed !

Its not the limitation of 32bit OS. The limitation is XP can only address up to 3gb of memory. (XP-64 may be able to address more, that I do not know) Server 2003 can address up to 32gb of memory in 32bit mode. (depending on the version.. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserv...s/default.mspx)

Good luck -=DouglasteR=-. My friend is running 3gb on his A64 Winchester machine.

XP SP1 can use 4gb with Physical Page Extention enabled in the bios (I think this was the setting anyways).

    XP SP2 cannot.
