Here is how me and my friend cool down chipset on our DFI NF4 Ultra-D boards!

for tests I used one 80mm fan @ ~1500rpm so it is very quiet. Passive it can hold temp under 45°C!

I'm very pkeased with temps wich R never above 35°C (even with friends X1900XT) while playing games!

Of couse it isn't perfect mod (bit expensive, can only use 2SATA) but it is good for me! It is nice, cold and quiet

What do U think?



In the meantime I changed CPU (3000+ Venice) with 3700+ SD and put VF700Cu on X800XL and changed SonicTower with BigTyphon. And changed old PSU with Hiper TypeR 580W

yes it is the Zalman Vf700, all he did is some bending. but dont really like that mod, because the vf700 take up too much spaces.

Yes it is trimmed VF700Cu! And yes it is pretty big but it's OK for me

Love it. Absolutely love it. Now I feel kind of bad that the only Zalmans I have left lying around are 7700's... probably much too large for that, plus I'll probably want to use a second PCI slot at some time...

o..i didn't get that (and I thought that I was crazy mounting VF700 on chipset )

I think that 9500 won't be a problem! VF700 is pretty low (profile i mean)

because U can't buy it in Croatia and this is more unique (and more complicated )

I'm worried about the width of the fin ray... the front of the Zalman aligns with the end of the PCIe slot.. looking at your pc those vf700 fins go past the slot..

Yes I saw that now!
Well it isn't a big problem! Just cut fins on VF or 9500 there (not more than 10mm) and it'll be OK!

OOps...I forgot about this thread Sorry to say, I've don't and haven't run SLI, but there's enough clearance for a second card (as long as there's no ramsinks or such on the back of the second card). I also only own one gpu phase unit but that'll probably change soon.

Temps with the cooler ~30C Max, but that's with the mobo outside of a case on my bench rig most of the time. I'd say that as long as there's a decent amount of air flow, it'd probably be able to keep a chipset in the 35C area @ 1.6V if the mobo was mounted inside a case

If this thing works with the SLi, I might start breaking the pins on mine. IMO, this is the best chipset cooler out there. I think I might be able to even use a hot glue gun and glue a small fan on the side of the heatsink.

I've balanced quite a few fans on the cooler - from 40mm - 92mm and found that in my particular setup, they didn't even make a difference in temps (since I have a rather large squirrel cage blowing air over my entire board to help prevent condensation)
