just remember R14 has horrible capacity. Your going to need 4x as much R14 in system as R1150. large compressor in the last stage is a must.
I would say 1.5x instead of 4.Originally Posted by zabomb4163

like heat capacity has anything to do with it...Originally Posted by zabomb4163
YES. the reason chilly was never successful with R14 was because he couldnt get enough capacity
cold_ice is not chilly
lets try him

no absolutly nothing! chilly had oil problems not capacity problems! capacity problems were with methane (r50)Originally Posted by zabomb4163
Heat capacity is how much heat the gas can absorb to increase 1 degree in temperature, you forget 1 important thing and that is phase-change
Today I had some time to continue the work on the cascade. I finished the first stage, I hope I have no leak. Maybe I will start with the second staghe tomorrow if I have time.
cold_ice my friend you are a professional insulator... your insulation is always perfect ...
keep up!
if this is your first night in xtremesystems,
you have to overclock.
^^ double that Vageli , also Cold Ice has there inslulate materials to insulate entire XS . I see a nice single stage in second photo .
if you have a wire feed welder then you have argon so it may be easy to get
Concerning to what?Originally Posted by best [486]

Man, your insulation is awesome..

if they are K types i think around 10-15 euro, atleast my fluke K sensors cost 16 euro.
hey cold_ice what thermostat ar you using? and what are you going to use to swith your 3th stage on. the thermostat must handle K type thermocouple's not?
where going to use an dixell thermostat on the cascade where going to make, i can give you the type if you want.
about the oil:
http://www.sanyo-biomedical.com/file...20MDF-1155.pdf
the solution, a very GOOD oilsepHigh-efficiency oil separator for stable ultra-low temperature environments Compressors continuously repeat highly compressed operations, so lubricant oil is essential to prevent abrasion and seizure.
But when lubricant oil circulates in the refrigeration circuit, piping becomes clogged and results in compressor damage. Incorporating an exclusive highefficiency oil separator, the MDF-1155 ATN effectively separates lubricant oil from refrigerant, offering a stable ultra-low temperature environment.

Back in the phase change world
The probes are about 11€ at a local store.
I'm using Dixell XR10C thermostat for the first stage. I don't have controllers for the other stages at the moment. Most controllers only go down to -50°, so not useable for a cascade. Which one do you use for your cascade?
Not a big update today. I continued the work on the second stage, all lines are bent, only some brazing is to do now.
i tought i recognize the controller, i'll try to get the model tomorrow or this weekOriginally Posted by cold_ice
btw good luck with the 4stager, your doing a excellent Job.

Yeah man keep it coming
The suspense is killing me...that beast of a cascade is going to start freezeing though your test-bed
Good luck
