    4 stage cascade

Actually I planned a 3 stage cascade, but now I want to try 4 stages. I started with the build last week.
Here is the old thread of the 3 stager: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=85580
I kicked the huge coaxil heatexchangers, and bought some nice plate HX. Furthermore I use only Danfoss compressors now.

    1.stage
    Danfoss SC21CLX
    1,1kw condenser
    3,6m 0,9mm captube (TC-36)
    plate HX
    R507a
    Dixell XR10C Thermostat (PTC probe)

    2.stage
    Danfoss SC18CLX
    Desuperheater
    Henry S-5181 oilseparator
    3,8m 0,9mm captube (TC36)
    plate HX
    R1150

    3.stage
    Danfoss SC15CLX
    Henry S-5181 oilseparator
    plate HX
    R14

    4.stage
    Danfoss SC15CLX
    Enthitzer
    Henry S-5180 oilseparator
    plate HX
    chilly1 evap
    methane

Last week I took the first pictures

Today I insulated the plate heatexchangers, but I have to take photos of it tomorrow.

Methane You don't have enough room around the HXs though. They will need LOTS of insulation. I'd want 6" around them.

How much does the whole thing weigh? 150+?

That's some awesome project you got planned there. I don't know if you just layed the components out to take piccys, but i'd put that thing on wheels before you braze it all together, or you'll never be able to move it with out a crane Good lucky

Impressive cold_ice. I hope you beat the cascade records.
That that not you, is like altars to isolate the badge and the cpu. That if it is like they say for there is, that you arrived at -160º.
Luck with the project, I will follow it sincerely.

    Greetings

One compressor weights about 14kg, so I'm sure that the finished unit will weight 70kg or more.
I hope I can get -160°, I don't know if anyone ever used methane here at xs. But I'll give my best...
The SC21CLX is a new one, the SCL18CLX is from a condensing unit, and the two SC15CLX are from a Twin Unit. It separated the two compressors.
I have no idea how to solve the problem with the oiland the R14 though, there's not much info provided on the web about this. But I'll try it with the Henry oilseparator. We'll see how it works.

maybe other oil? Seeing the troubles chilly had with r14. I don't know if AB is suitable...
