Change it to atleast 60mm fans and I might consider it. But my zipties are actually working pretty well at the moment for fan mounting.
    Formerly XIP, now just P.

60's are too big w/o having to make the plexi wider... Which as it sits is controversial for anyone on phase or with a large heatsink.

Rgr that... one vote for w/ fan package

@enjoy: Now that I think about it, since I haven't even got a v1 here for testing yet I can't rule out 60's yet. Just from what I'm looking at it doesnt seem like they'd fit at the elevation of the plexi but who knows... I might be able to find some custom height standoffs that would work to lower it enough to make it a tad wider for the 60's. I do agree that 60's would be a better choice of fan if I could get them to fit comfortably with any users setup.

Just wondering: Is the 'tab' for the left-hand fans only supported at one side ? I can just imagen that whole side breaking off at some point due to the vibration of the fans. :c

3/16" acrylic is some tough stuff, and 40mm fans don't create any noticable vibration. The current design was more though of for vertical board setups where there wouldn't be any real force on the acrylic.

But you now have me thinking about benching rigs and horizontal board setups. I can see a considerable amount of stress on the acrylic on that side. What I'll do in v2.0 is tape a hole at the end of the acrylic and include an optional 2" tall acrylic standoff to hold the end up for any users with a horizontal board layout.

    Thx for the input mate!

Keep it coming guys, this is great feedback. Collectively with all of this input I can only hope to make it better and better

Hmmm fans=noice...but I am more concerned with if would even fit into my current setup... how "tall" does your construction stand above the pbc itself?
I am considering watercooling the mosfets (but only found one shops that sells thosepremade, and they don't come cheap...)...don't need cooling for RAM as it is now..

I use zip tied Yate Loons on my two watercooled boxes with Ultra-D's but I would go to a pre-made solution in a heartbeat if it was priced right and quiet while maintaining good performance.

Yup, after the Expert edition gets done that's the next one on my chopping block. I've already started the CAD'ing but have been spending most of my time proofing my measurements and dimensions on the Expert model. Stay tuned for the Ultra-D & SLI-D(R) model.

No, sorry this is designed for the use of small fans. It unquestionably will make some noise but I have this in mind for more hardcore clockers that don't have any objection to noise

40mm is ok...60mm is better but maybe too big. How about 50mm ??

The sinks for the mosfets is from an old PSU

Some cutting and drilling and they fit the mainboard

    Quick update...

I think I've found the place I'm going to have these made. They're only a few hours up the road from me and have a huge facility. They've agreed to an initial $85 setup fee and then $30 for each prototype. They've told me they could possibly go as low as $4 a piece with quantity between 50-100! That means these could be VERY reasonably priced
