Also the ambient temperature was about 26C today. It is used to be around 30C the previous days.
It did make it through the night at 3300MHz (165 bus) !
Temperatures were about 46C in the morning. At this point I am happy with the u-wire mod and the Coolermaster heatpipe lapping.

I have to troubleshoot what thing doesn’t like the high FSB.

I have raised it to 3400MHz (170 bus) and went off to work. In the afternoon I will see if it survived the heat. Athens is still pretty warm.

are you monitoring m/b and cpu temps? I thought for sure it would be fried with the ambient temps there.
Lower fsb, higher multi hmmm less stress on vrms?

For a couple of hours it runs at 3450 (172.5 x 20) at full load.
I got one "Generic Hosts" error window but the system keeps running.
    Ambient tempeture was about 31C.
From the thermal probe of the case I read 45.1C for cpu 1.

MBM 5 doesn't work. Any suggestions about MBM 5 ?

That looks a nice block ,its possible that i gone buy those for my 1.6ghz LV ES rig,its 78€ for one,but i think that it will do a good job on cooling those baby's .

Will there be much diffferens between the MCW6002(52€) blocks and the SwiftTech Storm(78€) to cool those xeon's.

    What memory do you have?

My 1.6ghz can boot and run at 16x200,but now it run's at 15x210 becaus it's a bit to warm overhere i had to lower them.

But normal it run's at 15x214=3210mhz 24/7,or 16x200 thats to see how my mood is.

All of this with the IWT offcourse, for the moment that is.

My memory is regular infineon ddr 400, runs fine at 15x200 Mhz and ddr 400 speed with no vdimm mod. temps arent a problem with the cpus (~50C) case temp stays below 55C. And with a/c on they are about 5C lower.

    Here's a picture btw...

It's a blank pad so no risk of knocking a SM component off of hurting a chip.

And the mod is basically putting a 100KOhm VR across this pad and ground. Start off with the VR set to 100K and then work your way down to increase Vcore. Works pretty smooth.
Jeff can you make a wide shot of that vcore mod,i dont find it on my pc-dl,it is for pc-dl,yes.

Here something weird going on with my next 1.6ghz LV,i can boot at 120x16 ,stock that is,if i want to make the next step(jumper jump ) it does'nt wont to boot, can't even go in the bios,i have the wiremod to 1.6v and on the memory sits 3.45v with ocz520w rising the 3.3v line,or is it better to do the vdimm mod also,i thought it was ok this way.

it's the originel bios still,i had a go at updating the bios but i think it did'nt work ok,i do that again.

I think that is actually the vrm, not the case itself. I think thats been said before. Not positive though.

The memory timings are now very aggressive at 2-2-2-5. They do make a difference in application switching.

The VRM temp can be that high and you don't need to worry about it

It's taken me all day (at work) to read thru this entire thread. But I did it! And it has given me enough to think on. I must say that I am going to build one of these. I have been thinking about building a dual cpu machine for sometime but the price has driven me off. And this gives me the info I have been looking for.

Kaptain, that case you have is a kingwin. I have that model in black with clear windows. It came in three flavors silver/clear, silver/blue, and black/clear.

For the Belgian guys... just received a mail from my regular hardwareshop and they told me that my Swiftech MCX-603V coolers can be delivered in about a weeks time... since I know Rocker was looking for some WC gear from Swiftech, maybe mail them and ask for prices?

Got my Coolermaster E3W-NPTXC-01 last week (shipment came earlier as expected) and installed them on my 1.6Ghz. Hooked up 2 quiet 80mm blue fans to them.
Oh man, the quietness. I just love it, after almost 6 months with the IWT.
Temps are ok too, at least 10° better than the IWT. It also depends on the room temp (some days, it's wamer/colder, what a climat !!!).

    Thx.
PSU is a Fortron 460W, which are hard to find over here, but I managed to snap a brand new one at ebay a couple of months ago for a fair price. Rock solid PSU.
    Board is the ASUS PCH-DL.

Are you planning on vmodding/clocking that board? or let it crunch at stock....One of these days I'll built me some dual setup just for crunching puposes. Do those m/b uses regular ram or registered?

No, i've no plans on modding the board.
Board uses regular ram, just like the PC-DL.
My 1.6'ers run at 3Ghz, 24/7, for over several months now.
They ran at 3.1Ghz for some time, but probably due to the heat (summer was around the corner and only using the stock IWT), it became unstable after a while. Temps were high too (around 60°C).
Will try tomorrow to see if can get them back at 3.1Ghz (or even more).
