Well, yeah, my first "official" kill. Though it was a half dead card before it fell into my hands, (refurbished). I wasn't mad or angry when it went down the crapper.. just a bit disapointed and luckily enough i have some extra cash and I am looking to cash in on the price drop on ATi cards. Though not a budget for the x1800 series, though i wish i had. spending limit is about $250 or so, so i am thinking of the Sapphire X850XT deal they have on Newegg.com it is the none vivo but hell for $218 it isnt a bad deal. (considering I paid $223 for the refurb pos Asus X850PRO). Any care to know I (or we because JasonDTM had both his hands in on this one ) just pm me just to save public embarassment.

Well, Newegg has em for $180 less the $20 mail in rebate. And it's VIVO so yeah. I might just do that, even if i dont catch the rebate.

Well, i am posting to you from my x850PRO, it has some artifacting issues.... wont run games, but displays some stuff. other than that, its a hastle.... its not officially dead, just dead to me. But i will get on that order for the x800GTO2 with hopes of catching that sweet deal, but anyway. Yeah, chalk this one up as being dead... lol.

Well i might be able to get that if i can get this car that my dad was looking at. it just i hate those type of stock coolers, and my AVC-AT5 wont work for that. So yeah....

The base of the heatsink is shorting something, maybe even the paste is. Give it a good inspection !

thouroughly inspected, and remounted 3 times. i must've gotten a bad rev or something...

Is the core cracked? A difference in pressure could make it artifact if it has a small crack, but maybe it is not even visible.

It is also possible that the memory get's to hot because of the crappy thermal pads. The Rev.3 is famous for it's thermal pads, but only not in a good way
Or either the core or memory is not being touched by the base, Artic cooling is also famous for this.

Send it back to arctic cooling.

This makes me not want to try his cooler on my X850XT if thats going to be the problem.. I swear up and down I installed it right, I've done countless mounts and ect, I can do the AS5 really good.. (Thin layer and full core coverage almost as good as their website show..) But wtf is up with that blasted cooler..
