    CrossFire in hands

    Hi guys,

I have a CrossFire system here with two Radeon X850 XTs and Halibut motherboard.

    Full size screenshot

With FX-57 and High Quality settings the system scores around 10880. Everything running at default clocks.

I'll do some overclocking tomorrow with Vapochill LS cooled FX-57. Unfortunately I don't have time to play with an extreme cooling on graphics cards because of an upcoming product launch. Anyway, I'll post some overclocked numbers tomorrow if I can find a tool to overclock graphics cards in CrossFire mode..

You can't even do that with a non crossfire setup...I can't think of any monitor ever made that could do 1600x1200@100hz. The only rez i know for sure that can do that is 1024x768..

You wanna get a decent monitor like mine, Eizo F930 21" CRT, I use it 1600 x 1200 104Hz, the best monitor I have ever had....

I'll check that, I haven't done any overclocking with the system yet. Just the basic benchmarks. Tomorrow I'll be doing some overclocking.

Doom3 runs fine @ 1600x1200 (4x AA / 16 x ANI) but Battlefield 2 is requires resoltion dropped to 1024x768 (4x / 16x ANI). High performance quality settings gives 11200 in 3DMark05 at default clocks.

Unfortunately the bottom line is that CrossFire is ~6 months too late and it has some problems like 60 hz limit. Also performance / price can't compete with single GeForce 7800 GTX.

R520 XT CrossFire is what I'm really waiting for

The motherboard has amazing voltage adjustments, propably just like Grouper. Vmem up to 4,0 etc. I hope we'll see this reference design from DFI! (BT?)

PS. Southbridge SB450 has some serious problems with Seagate Barracuda SATA V which has a native SATA support. For some reason southbridge forces it to PIO-mode and doesn't work in UltraDMA-6 mode. I'm using Silicon Images SATA controller instead.
