no it is not dedicated, it is my daily user. I surf the internet alot and do other stuff like edit and create web pages and code with it. It does stay on 24/7 though. it is also running dimes.Originally Posted by afireinside

I have also re-configured 2 of my DX's to run at 212 x 15 so the RAM can run at a higher speed because if i do i can get higher Bmarks from BOINC. I think RAM bandwidth has someting to do with it, not really timings.
Edit: I have also noticed that i get a higher Bmark score if i just stop touching the computer while it is running the Bmark. (not even the mouse) let it go it will be OK!!

On the note of memory bandwidth... I just took a 256MB stick of PC2100 I had in one of my K7's out leaving a 256MB stick of PC3200 in there...
So this took it from:
18x133 w/ 512MB of ram = 2595 / 7179
12x200 w/ 256MB of ram = 2628 / 7262
So memory bandwidth does help the benchmark... now I'll try to figure out if going from 512 slower mem -> 256 faster mem hurts overall production.
great thread. opening my eyes some. time for some fine tuning, when i get the time.
coming from where only mHz mattered, this nice.

+100mhz CPU -5 MHZ mem 3748/11394
looks like mem bandwidth makes a big diff, i bet if i tighted my settings a lil it would go higher, but thats to iffy to get it to OC up their, damm old corsair, someone should win the lottery and buy we some TCCD

from the redults above its looking like a dx at 3.2ghz isnt that far off a 2.7ghz x2
x2 ~7400/11300
dx ~8200/9000
so swapping over is looking better and better as the x2 will uses a fair amount less electricity than the dx.

did this on my HT p4 2.6C @3.45 ghz
while browsing and doing average work
preferences set to use 1 cpu (out of 2 logical HT CPUS?)
i get
3087 double precision mips (Whetstone)
5851 integer mips (Dhrystone)
not too bad i think....maybe break 6k if i had any idea what kinda optimizations there are possible....and ....changing some various settings
I'll experiment a bit

Just ran it on my 2.8 P4 laptop. All I can say is HA!
Intel Mobile Pentium 4 2.8ghz

2079 Dhrystone
Maybe I'll have to see how this thing does in F@H.
