maybe 90mb for everything that involves rosetta
Core i7-920 @ 3,8GHz 24/7 1,30v watercooled
Gigabyte X58 UD5
3x1GB G.Skill DDR3-1333
MSI 7900GTO
Corsair HX520W
That's page file you are looking at in the task manager... not physical mem. Mine uses right around 90MB of physical / cpu (Or Wu)Originally Posted by KaptainBlaZzed

I am not using so much ram atm...
Boinc uses around 150Megs total, I've got some other processes running as well, but I never get above 400. I have 1GB of ram and 1.5GB pagefile.
Main rig:
CPU: I7 920C0 @ 3.6Ghz (180*20)
Mobo: DFI UT X58 T3eH8
RAM: 12GB OCZ DDR3-1600 Platinum
GPU/LCD: GeForce GTX280 + GeForce 8600GTS (Quad LCDs)
Intel X25-M G2 80GB, 12TB storage
PSU/Case: Corsair AX850, Silverstone TJ07
So far it seems to me that R@H runs a lot better with other apps than D2OL ever did... even with its increased mem usage.
I COMPELTELY agree....it gets less in the way AND it still runs at a high/full speed (my D2OL production went down to 2/3rds of what it should have been SOLELY based on a lack of RAM, not even CPU usage).Originally Posted by Rodzilla
I do not care what everybody has said about the ram usage and page file usage. since i put an extra 512mb ram in 2 of my DX rigs they a docking like mad( dualxeon3, xeoncruncher) and the one with only 512mb ram (dualxeon2) is going so
slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
that i am ordering the extra 512mb ram for it right now.
it might look like it does not matter but i am convienced that you need 256mb per WU you are doing so it can run at its full potential.
all of my rigs were updated just before the severs went off-line and have been crunching for the same amount of time. i have 6 completed WU's on a DX with 1Gb and only 1 on an identical DX with only 512mb.
when i say identical i mean it everything is the same for DX 2 & 3 except 3 has 1Gb ram and different PSU's. Same case, mobo, heatsinks, HD's and they are bouth at 213 x 15 with (2-3-2-5) timings.
more RAM is better and quite a bit from what i can tell so far.
here is a nice pic for everybody to look at.

i add my opteron 148 @ 3.2g for rosetta for now

This is insanity...or am I doing something wrong? frustrates me when you give your machines to a project and they can't make it intuitive to set up. You'd think that with the science people they'd have at least one person with mgt experience who'd understand the importance of easy setup..
Care to speculate on the numbers of people who got frustrated and walked away just due to the setup?
Just my 2 frustrated cents......

look in your "work" tab. Do you have items there that say "ready to run" and "running" ????? If so you have work and have nothing to worry about.Originally Posted by Movieman
How does Rosetta take advantage of dual-core? Is it same like D2OL where you run two instances of it?
Wish there was a way to limit dial-up connections to small WU's (as in ones that are not over ~330kb in size).....
All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.
I just added a computer for XS_VIP, more to come soon.
Guy's i have a Q.
Would 2 x DX 1.6ghz rigs @ 3.1ghz outperform 1 X2 3800 @ 2.7ghz or 1 Opty 165 @ 2.7ghz,if the differens is not that big,am looking in to it to change my little farm back to all AMD ,not that the Xeon's are not good, far from, but i have to stay at 6 to 8 and if i stretch maybe +10 rigs in my farm, due to provider issues, and maybe changing to X2 and/or dual Opty,do downgrade my electric bill,a few rigs but more output, you get it.
And what about a 3700+SD @ 3.1ghz on water, what dammage thus that baby do in R@H,and the single core Opty's?
Asus P5K<*>OCZ 450w<*>E6600@4.0ghz@9x445@1.450v<*>TeamXtreem DDR2-800 cl3 2x1gb<*>Sapphire 3870 512mb DDR4
Asus P5E X48 DeLuxe<*>OCZ 700w<*>E8600 E0@4.6ghz@1.350v wc<*>Corsair Titanium DDR2-800 4x2gb<*>Sapphire 2x3870 2x512mb DDR4 CF
Sounds like you would save on electricity... I'm not 100% sure that your output would go up.... If anything I would think it would fall.Originally Posted by RocKer
In case people aren't sure on how to change profiles on machines, you have to be logged in, and view your computers, select one, and then there will be a drop down menu at the bottom with your profiles to select from.

I've just installed boinc and rosseta project, joined XS team of course. Will try to do my best with my little Sandy @ 3Ghz :p
