No Typhoon to get hold of, made request to deaf ears :/

    I already review Ninja
    http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=get...89&articID=224

Ninja vs Shogun, Shogun has small lead
so Ninja ~=~ Shogun in tests

Hmm, that comparison has some of the worst temps ever. With a room temp of 22c they are getting 61c on a xp120 with a papst fan. WTF? Plus they are doing the comparison with the case in a desktop position where heatpipe coolers perform slightly worse than in the tower position.

    all yours

about the heatpipe thingie.. SP-94 did suffer from worse performance when heatpipes were not in correct position. (we're talking 1-3°C here)

XP series has no problem with orientation; I tested XP-90 in all directions of the wind and no temp difference

I hope you're joking. Just by looking at the pics and what angles they show is really obvious that the case is laying down.

Quality heatpipes works 360/360, position doesn't matter
I have some pipes, they work in any direction, all equally well. But the position may affect how the copper/aluminium perform

Dave.. look at the author of that roundup
    look at my nickname

this Antec Sonata 2 was maybe laying down for installation; but all tests were of course run in upright (tower) position

tell me again why this was "the worse test ever"; if you have valid arguments I'm willing to learn and improve

Nice review my only comment is try to make the graphs easier to read (i.e. Put the HS in alphabetical order on the Y-Axis). Thanks for doing the review I'm sure it took up a lot of your time.

there are 2 graphs with the results near the end
sorted by pure performance (lowest temp)
and cpu+(pwm/2)+dBa to have some kind of idea of noise vs temps

I thought that initally, but then I saw a few of the bars sticking out further than ones above it. I guess I got kind of confused, but I realize now how they are sorted.

It's getting past my bed time.

I just can't get over the fact that with a room temp of 22c, and what seems like an open case for testsing, all the temps were so high. Sorry about the other stuff, just that the pics were at such angles, it just seems they would hurt to take if the tower was standing up.

you are correct Postal Dude, at 1.7 this A64 produces quite some heat; I also tested at default speeds in the roundup (2200-1.5v vcore), so you can see how the heatsinks do in less extreme conditions.

I think the temps were so bad on this test because if you look at the data above the charts. He is running a 500Mhz oc at a staggering 1.7v!! I think that that voltage was used to realy put these coolers thru their paces. and judging by the temps, they were. If the oc'd test was ran at 1.5v rather than 1.7 the temps would seem more natural. But this review was to compare the HSF's under very stressful conditions. 1.7v on air... it dont get much more stressfull!
