    Way to 40k 3DMark '01 8)

    Hi all,

    i'am now on 39311 and i need some tips, bcs. i think i scratch on the limit on my system. But i really want to see this magic 40xxx on my screen.

    What i have already done:

    - Win2k clean install

    - ricky & pedro tweak

    - DirectX 8.1

    What i can maybe get out of my system:

    - Opteron up to 3250MHz / BH5 up to 27xMHz

    - Increase the core on the X850XT to perhaps 675MHz, mem is maxed out, with tweaked timings.

    Do u think i can get the 40k, or maybe some tips for me, i forgot?

    What was the order to run the tests? Thx for help.

    PC : Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 + Intel Core i5 i2500k + 2 x Asus HD6870 DirectCU + 2x2GB PC12800 G.Skill Eco 7-8-7-24 + Creative X-Fi Titanium PCIe + Scythe Mugen 3.
    Digicam : Pentax *istDL2 + Pentax smc DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL + Cosina F3.5/100mm Makro.
    Heimkino : Samsung LE-46B450 FullHD + Arion AF-4000HDCI + Onkyo TX-SR505E + Quadral Quintas 5.0 + Heco Victa 25A.

    have you tried disabling sast writes and video memory timing?
    and benching in diagnostic mode?

    Do all the above and with different freq. for different games, e.g. GAME 4 always presents the GPU failure, lower some clocks in that game.

    Hmm.. i think my BH5 is sucks with this Opteron. I can run 3200MHz thousand times and no freeze or closed 3DMark, but 3210MHz and the fun begins... Need other bios for dfi.

    I always find that Lobby crashes more often than Nature due to a too higher clocker GPU.. the bit right at the end where max payne guy jumps and is firing the guns...

    Same here. A few times I actually got nature to run at a higher gpu clock than any other test.

    I can run completly with 665/650MHz now, but this is not really important for the result. I really need to run with 3250MHz, then i'm sure i will get the 40k. Hope i will fix the problems soon.

    lol im with you guys! ive been workin on 40k now for about a yr. i strated with my x850xt and got it all the way up to 35k then like an idiot i sold the card ending my quest of 40k using the 850xt. funny thing is that even with my new 1800xt ive yet to score higher then 36.5k. i have a feelin once i get back on my phase unit ill walk right past 40k but who knows my luck ill still have problems with that 40k

    well hey man great score! that is with your x850xt right? i always knew those x850's were good for about 43k given the right cooling and skills. keep up the good work man i bet you get 41k before its all over...

    @MusicIsMyLife

    Hehe, if i want the 45xxx in the future, i contact u, but it is my passion to break that 40k with full watercooling.

    @DStealth

    That is really strange, i think i ask a mod about this..

    Anyway, i wrote it on paper for me..

    Welcome to the club!

    I wish i will see in the future 41k or more, but it will be hard!

    Good luck for urself to break it, i think u can get it too. U need pure CPU-Power.

    peace perc,
    The nature score in your sig is 390. With same clocks cpu and gfx with 2x256 mine is 440. Could it be a CCC setting or something? I think yours could be higher.

    GL on 40 !!

    @funkflix,

    SP 4 for win2k? Do you rerun CL for a good one? What catalyst yr using? I liked 4.12 best for me X850. Tried realtime?

    try to run it 5-10 times, you can gain about 500 points just from getting a good rerun.. (keep trying, it will go down sometimes), also you could let gpu cool down b4 re-running CL..

    Hehe...Anybody that knows me knows that I'm not much of a 3dMark guy at all, but I recently got an x850xtpe that's quite the beast. For kicks, I ran 3dMark01 VERY unoptimized with only the most basic of tweaks (since I don't know any ). Basically, dl'd 01 on to an xp install, set clocks (no ram timing tweaks), and let er go. I know my result sux for my clocks, but it's just kinda cool to see since my vid card/cpu aren't even CLOSE to being maxed out. This run was done with Rivatuner's HW monitoring tool running in the background so I could see what the max temp on the GPU was during the bench. 32C loaded...not too bad on plain water 702/675 on the x850xtpe:
    EDIT: BTW - Can somebody tell me how much using DX9 affects the score?

    That nature is very high compared to the clocks on the card

    I would say just normal for that high clocks... I have 315 with 450MHz less cpu clocks and 45MHz less gpu clocks.

    Sorry...didn't know there was a place to post my results and didn't think it warranted a new thread..
    44k easily? Hmmmm....Kingpin's WR is 44.9K, is that realistically within reach? I just may have to continue to play with the card a little more then

    BTW, my unit is cooled by an autocascade, not a conventional cascade

    I have 339 at 730/662 tight timings (CPU dont meet squat with single card in nature) so i would say it pretty high

    Ok, never reached that regions of clocks, so do not really know.

    @s7e9h3n

    >44k is a bit optimistic, but a bit more should be in reach, with 3650MHz.

    No it wasn't....you were right I just sometimes get overzealous when I'm excited about a bench
    3650's just a warm-up for this cpu But I'm curious just how much higher I can score @ this speed. How much does using win2k and dx8 help your scores? I could probably pull off the ricky tweak on my cpu even @ these speeds/voltages, but tbh, that may be going a little too far for me

    @SIOUX - what do you think happened on my nature score? in your estimation, what should it have been.....

    Sorry for all the questions - I'm officially ending my thread jack now

    your nature is just fine
    @ 668core 305fps is already possible with a64 @ 2400mhz

    Try a full tweaked Win2k, and i think u will see 42xxx with the same clocks.

    Which Catalyst did u used for ur run? Maybe the new 5.13 give u that boost in Nature? Never tried them.
