You'll need two of them for a start and then you might find yourself bandwidth limited, at least in 03 GT2 and GT3.

I admire your sureness though !

Time to walk the walk now of course, looking forward to your results.

hey thx for the reply. ive been wanting to try the sli out for a few months now but buying to topend cards just costs so much! now your saying that TWO of these cards will equal one 7800gtx 256mb card? i honestly expected more from the two cards to be honest. i didnt realize the 7000 series was that much faster then the 6000 series cards! so having two of these cards wont even be close to say 2 of the 7800gts? these cards just seem so good atm i deff want to keep my eye on this thread to see how well these stack up...

    thx perc,

Where are you seeing $187 on newegg? I looked and didn't see it.

Ah, refurb. I'd rather spend the additional $13-18 for new.

it was the xfx refurb they were there last night and today but like all good things its gone now! also is it me or are the XFX 6800gs cards the only one to offer the open GL 2.0 ? ive looked at all the other 6800gs brand cards and newegg has those as only sporting open gl 1.5?? seems the only one that newegg has listed as open gl 2.0 is these xfx cards and as luck would have it they are all sold out

    peace perc.

They all support OGL 2.0, it's just mixed up info. All GF6 cards do; it's been enabled in the Forceware drivers for a long time now.

Tremendous bang/buck ratio on the 6800GS. Nvidia just won't ease the pressure of the boot that they have on the back of ATIs neck!

Dang it I couldn't run SLI with my cards because of the Zalman cooler....just doesn't fit right on my SLI-D. I need to get a DFI Expert with more space between the cards.

Anyone wanna buy my cards? $200 shipped each or $390 for both. Zalman Fatal1ty coolers included. PM me. =]

lol not a bad deal on the cards but why not just change coolers instead of getting rid of the cards?

Too late. Cards sold back to mmouse. Be on the lookout for some water or dice runs from him on his X2 4800.

Just ordered two from the egg! I couldn't resist ordering just one. My luck, they'd go back out of stock and then the new ones would be different and not oc this crazy. I couldn't snag an awesome cpu, but these cards will make up for it.

Will any aftermarket coolers fit on these while in sli on an ultra-d? Is it impossible to get arctic coolers on them? I'll ghetto rig it and make it work if its a close squeeze.

I'm really impressed with my XFX 6800GS I got over this Christmas. Temperature-wise, I don't know what's happening. With Forceware 81.98, I added AS5 and sanded down the copper GPU heatsink, and I still get around 75C max on load. I haven't seen any GS from anybody get that hot, so I'm just confused over this.

So the core gets to a modest 520MHz. But the memory gets to a whopping 1400MHz. XFX must have overvolted on this memory, but it's very impressive for stock 2.0ns (and yes I did check that).

I tried the new Lost Coast stress test and at 1280x960 4xAA 16xAF I get 56.96 FPS average.
