    XFX 6800GS...Xtreme 12 pipe card!!!

    (ALL RESULTS AIR COOLED)

    UPDATED: 12/16/2005

    XFX 6800GS vmodded 670/1400 (stock 485/1100)

    SINGLE-CARD scores:
    3DMark03 - 17,186 pts
    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=4476585

    3DMark05 - 7,970 pts
    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1566127

This card really blew me away and far exceeded my expectations! It's pretty much the fastest 12 pipe card available without a doubt beating a stock 7800GTX!

    More overclocking on the way...
    Stay tuned..........

So, the card is stock with no volt mods? Usually 1.37V on the core is enough to get it to around 550 or so if you are lucky, but not any higher.

660MHz on core, that's truly xtreme! That's the same clock that Sampsa & Kamu got with LN2 on their 6800Ultras. Sure it's harder to clock in SLI and less pipes might help too, but still very nice!

I will do SLI tests tonight after work and keep everything air cooled. Hoping to bench both cards at 650/1350. I'm sure that'll break 13k marks in '05.

Card is not stock...it's vmodded running on Zalman Fatal1ty air cooler. Ambient room temp 16-18C.

Yes, I got these from Jason. If everything behaves, I may even get 14k.

It all makes sense. The facts were all in the link result. Nice runs!

I saw the "2 hours" reference and thought "stock". But, volt modded out of the box is always a nice way to start

If you could squeak out another 6Mhz on the core you'd match a stock 7800 gt in texel fill rate(8000 MTexels/s).

good to know. i'll bench out in the garage (12-14C room temp) and see if i can manage a few more mhz.

Already posted above...using the Zalman Fatal1ty coolers. Have not checked load temps yet...but idle was 30C.

BTW, a stock 6800 GS and 7800 GT memory bandwidth is the same @ 32GB/s. Coolmonk clocked the memory a little past a stock GTX(43.8 vs 38.4). Not in the league of the GTX 512MB @ 54.4GB/s but very nice. The one reason why I'd want a 7800 over the gs is transparency fsaa; unless there's a hack out to get a 6800 to do such? Oh, and the 7800's seem to use less power(which is one reason why I'm eagerly awaiting nvidia's transition to 90nm).

You think a 128-bit memory interface card, which slower by a large margin at stock speed in just about everything is going to come from behind to beat a 6800gs that overclocks past 7800gs performance level? You'll get high praise if you can pull it off.

Perhaps you havn't seen the benchmarks yet:

I'm more [h]ard than you fella, I know what I talk about

I have a feeling you'll be thinking otherwise when usee x1600xt's doing 800-900mhz core with more volts altered with software, no soldering required. goodgame jr

without modded cooling, and we're talking CPU-level stuff, I won't believe it till I see it.

As for now, if all you care about is 3DMark05, then by all means, suit youself.
