Worth it? or just wait till M2 and DDR2?

Here is what i got now, and i'm struggle'n with my self. Get a new CPU or wait?
I have a chilly1 unit. But only gets this to 2950 and not stable.
The first pic is all air.
You think i should upgrade or wait? I'm only going to ues air. Like the first pic.
This is just a gammer. Basicly, you think i could do better "on air"?
Limit is about $300 on a new cpu.

Be happy with what you have and upgrade your vid card and RAM instead.

Wait till next year. The 7800s are dropping in price already, the 1800s are out. I'd wait till next year on everything.

Phase change beats air every time, just in your case not by very much...

I'd look to other components holding you back like your RAM or the mobo but I've had bum CPU's before that didn't OC very well under phase so I feel your pain. ;(

I'd hold off on upgrading, your CPU is no star but should perform pretty damn good on everything well into the end of next year or mid 2007 easy, by then .65 process A64's/X2's will be available which should give AMD a nice speed bump and make it worthwhile bang vs buck wise to buy again. Agree with others and say that your money is better spent elsewhere, like on a better video card or maybe even one of those Ageia PPU's when they finally come out.

i wouldn't worry about the proc. platform so much. like others are saying, start working on the components.
