    Why is it doing this?

I have never seen D2OL do this before and it's driving me crazy.

    I want my memory back!

I take that back.. just checked my main rig...

Could this have anything to do with the rediculously large buffering these things are doing? (both of their resultQueue.dat files are over 16 MB)

Found one that it's actually working right on....

All three of these are WinXP SP2

First system has 512 MB of RAM

Second one has 1 GB of RAM

and this one only has 256 MB... it only has a little over 100 cands completed, too.

Everyone go back and list what HW these are on please

Mine are all between 40-45m (DC AMD) and ~600 on each
    /Edit went to check indabsmt (recently reactivated) ~ 65 cands / 20m

Just restarted on Mikeepc, mem usage is now 12m & 32m
Heading back to 40mb oh well

Want to see if any correlation between processor and mem used?

    Ok.. here's the breakdown.

    Sempron s754 w/ 512MB - 3084 buffered - D2OL.exe using 133MB of RAM

    A64 s939 w/ 1GB - 3385 buffered - D2OL.exe using 131MB of RAM

    AXP w/ 1GB - 1875 buffered - D2OL.exe using 77MB of RAM

    AXP w/ 256MB - 144 buffered - D2OL.exe using 20MB of RAM

This is startin to make me mad.... the system that only has 512MB is not a dedicated cruncher and doesn't have 130MB to give up...

    Problem solved!!

Ok! Problem fixed! It was the rediculously large resultQueue.dat files that were making D2OL.exe use so much memory.

I cut them out of the d2ol/res folder and restarted D2OL and now D2OL.exe is using just 19 MB on each of the machines that were using 130 MB before!

Worked on all 3 systems that were starting to use gigantic chunks of memory!

Nearly 1200Cands combined.....DockWin.exe is taking 2x55M, D2OL is taking 2x36M, servanys are taking 1MB combined. AMD DC.

you'll find it on any good theme page......nothing special....

google for uxtheme.dll patcher if you haven't it already....

anyway this is something I was remarking in our software company as well. but it was like: the more ram a machine had the slower it went because the code wasn't able to handle all this ram and procuced 256-512MB garbage...

I really think it is bad mem handling because I don't think it really needs such big amount of ram for being fast enough....

I use WindowBlinds, the theme is called Tiger or something....there's 12 subsets to it, 6 aqua, 6 graphite, within each of those six there's three left buttons and three right buttons, one for brushed (mine), one for platinum (mine but flat metal, not brushed), regular (replaces the windows - [] X bar with a Tiger-ish one, but leaves the rest of it more windows like).

Anyway, don't mind the high RAM usage on mine....rufus.exe (bittorrent client) has a RAM leak where it uses RAM proportional to the B/W it's using (and double what it says).....it was going very fast when I took that shot

Someone else buffer up 3300 candidates into 1 resultQueue.dat file and see if their D2OL.exe eats 130 MB.

Seeing as I have over 1200 right now and it's the same size as when I have 0, I'd think it'd make no difference

    Well that was the problem....

Both systems are using 20MB now after I moved their 3000+ candidate resultQueue.dat.... so obviously it did make a difference.

This is really strange! And very new! The whole time we have been running this project and we can still learn something new!

I'll check one of my rigs at home that has 600+ ready on one node and see what it's using.

Question... are you running D2OL Daddy shmaa?
