    Woa this isn't good--RIAA worm...

    Here's a snipet.....

    Things to keep in mind:
    1) If you participate in illegal file-sharing networks, your
computer now belongs to the RIAA.
    2) Your BlackIce Defender(tm) firewall will not help you.
    3) Snort, RealSecure, Dragon, NFR, and all that other crap
cannot detect this attack, or this type of attack.
    4) Don't ยงยงยงยง with the RIAA again, scriptkids.
    5) We have our own private version of this hydra actively
infecting p2p users, and building one giant ddosnet.

I am pretty sure this is real, and if it is, it's not good!

If true, the community will rise to the occasion and produce counter-meaures.

Sadly though, if true, the battle is also on and will prove to be ugly. I wonder how many wrongful act lawsuits this will produce.

They can't prove where the media was obtained from unless their worm has some type of tracking device...which I'm sure it doesn't. Their database would be so huge that it would be virtually impossible to maintain. I think this may just be a ploy to discourage those new to the file sharing arena. If it were true, I think it would be all over the news just like Napster.

So how are they hiding the outbound traffic? And not to forget the mass class action law suits that they will have to deal with after trying to prosecute the hundreds of thousands who arenโ€™t illegally using p2p networking. Not to mention the court order required for each PC they invaded the privacy of. Seems they would be gathering a lot of inadmissable and illegal evidence. If they think there losing money now, wait till they are spending the rest of it defending themselves from all those defamation of character, and invasion of privacy law suits. I guess they can buy all our new equipment.

If this was true, couldn't ya just repartition the hdd that the file sharing program was on and rid yourself of any blame?

If the RIAA put on worm on your computer wouldn't that be instituting something more illegal than what we are doing? I mean not doing

The first link most likely is a hoax taken from this REAL worm. I will look into it further and post if I find anything pro or con...but check this link...this one sounds like it's real...but not as dangerous, if you take precautions.

UPDATE: RIAA Worm is total BS
